The world is bigger than America is the first thing that sprang to my mind when you said, ''what do the NFL, NBA ... have in common''.
Boxing needs to be under one promoter

Not true, the govt got involved in baseball with the whole steroid scandal. It's the govt's job to make sure that business are regulated and aren't cheating the public or it's employers. Why should boxing be any different?
The govt wouldn't be doing the corruption, they would just be regulating it and it can do that just fine when it doesn't have it's own interest involved. No need to be silly and think everything the govt does is corrupt.Comment

How did that GSP/Silva super fight turn out? Those were UFC's two biggest draws and just like May/Pac it didn't get made and they were under the same promotion. Rousey is still fighting bums off the street, calls out Carano at 145 yet in the same breath says Cyborg has to fight at 135. Fights don't get made in the UFC anymore than they do in boxing, maybe its the drug testing, except it took NEVADA testing to catch Sonnen AND W. Silva both for elevated testorone and Sonnen retired. Remeber this was NEVADA not the UFC testing, because UFC doesn't have their own testing like boxing it's state to state. Maybe it's Dana white saying Cyborg is a steroid user and that's why he won't hire her, yet in the same breath says he wants W. Silva to fight in a main event again.
UFC is ****ing **** on every level and I haven't even gotten to the best part. UFC 100 did 1.5 MILLION buys, that's Mayweather/Cotto numbers that is huge. What did the biggest draw on that card make? Brock Lesnar made 1.5 million. Dana White makes 60 million in PPV and the entire card got 5 million, yea UFC is great and boxing is this vile evil breeding ground where 1 person controlling it all is better.
Also baseball is like boxing, there is just one entity guiding the rules. At the end of the day MLB doesn't pay for the players, it's the team. The team would be the promoter and MLB is more like HBO in terms of rules and who plays who etc... Boxing needs some governing body that keeps undefeateds from fighting 15 loss guys in their 20th pro fight and for drug testing, nothing else is needed.Last edited by Beater_of_ass; 07-08-2014, 03:21 PM.Comment

Boxing fans are ridiculous, I can't believe how many are arguing against the TS, its ***in ******. You don't want the best fights? You don't want more champions? You don't want a legitimate structure where guys have a proper ranking and aren't run on the basis on who's paying who.
I know, I know, corruption occurs anyway but it would be far less.
What I want to know is where the money goes before advocating a monopoly. If it ends with more fighters making a good living then I'm happy. If it makes a load of executives rich while underpaid boxers take punches for a living then I'd rather look for another way.Comment

I prefer the free market aspect of boxing...boxing is still local. it seems like trying to put everything under one banner, worldwide, is not feasible.
so when a local promoter wants to put on a card at a hotel in the area it has to be under the umbrella of this larger organization?Comment

This sounds the most reasonable.Hell no! The cash cow would never lose a decision. It would be like the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals every fight.
This is what needs to happen:
1. Ban multi-fight promotional contracts and options altogether
2. Fighters have managers/advisers to handle their careers
3. Sanctioning bodies (preferably 1) do the matchmaking
4. Promoters bid on fights that sanctioning bodies make
If anything we need 1 sanctioning body, not one promoter.Comment
