Thats false. Cotto's adviser took the notion of the gloves after mosley and canelo fight where mosley's trainer said that the part of the thumb of the glove was made of a harder leather and it was dangerous to the other fighter for the fact that they can be easily cut in the eye or anywhere cuz of the thumb part. it does not really matter that other fighters use the gloves maidana was compelled to use...

the real issue is one fighter taking undue advantage at the pretext of walking away from the fight if his 11th hour whim is not granted....
