Lets conveniently also leave out that he was going head to head with Showtime. Paulie vs Judah who are more known only drew 100k more than Rigo.

Arum's a snake no doubt, but if he thought he could make money off Rigo he would. I love Rigo, never enjoyed such a display of boxing like I did in the Donaire fight, but that doesn't appeal to the masses. It's sad, but it seems to be the truth.

I feel for Rigo. He's elite, elite, elite. Sad to see that I guy that good can't get any draw.
It really is. It's funny how people can love NBA players or NFL players for their technical skill... but can't love a fighter with great technical skill because somehow this is "boring"...but those other sports aren't?... it's a sad sports culture we have...

Yeah of course. Trips me out how some fans out there actually think that Bob is trying to bury his own fighter. Lmfao why the f**k would he do that? His entire life is based on making money off these guys.

It's just that so far, Rigo has been a massive fail box office wise.

Rigo is a brilliant talent, but outside of hardcore boxing fans no one cares about him.
The reason it was empty is because it was in New Jersey and the jersey kid had just finished getting the **** beat outta him by Kirkland. So they all left. As for the ratings, Showtime had a decent card on that night too. Either way, Arum ****ted on Rigo after he whooped Nonito and started up the fire backlash against him. Smh all because his boy Nonito got his ass kicked. **** HBO too! They been putting these bum ass Europeans on that are boring as hell but can't put on Rigo??? Give Ward $2 mill to bore fans but can't put on Chacal??? **** them!! On the undercard of Shimming, he's garbage!!!!

I'm going to echo the sentiments that many have already posted. Rigo is a ridiculous talent, but he just doesn't generate the revenue.

              Fuck Bob Arum anyway.

Arum on What It***8217;d Take to Re-sign Guillermo Rigondeaux

                by David P. Greisman

Junior-featherweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux***8217;s final fight under his deal with promoter Top Rank will be on July 19 against Sod Looknongyantoy, a bout taking place in Macau, China, on a card also featuring Chinese star prospect Zou Shiming.

Rigondeaux***8217;s falling out with Top Rank has been well-chronicled. Rigondeaux***8217;s team feels the promoter hasn***8217;t done enough to market him and his talent. Top Rank feels that Rigondeaux***8217;s style isn***8217;t marketable. And Rigondeaux went from defeating Nonito Donaire on HBO last year to waiting for a second date on that network. Then he got one and topped a reluctant Joseph Agbeko late last year on HBO, a bout that pulled in an incredibly low viewership rating for the network.

                ***8220;My problem with Rigondeaux is that HBO won***8217;t put him on the air,***8221; Arum told BoxingScene.com on June 6. ***8220;So if HBO won***8217;t put him on the air, then I only have one market for him, realistically, and that***8217;s in Asia. So he***8217;s fighting there on the 19th of July, and if he has a good performance, maybe they want him back. Then I***8217;d re-sign him. But I***8217;m not going to re-sign him if HBO won***8217;t put him on and there***8217;s no other market for him.***8221;

And any new contract with Rigondeaux would need to have different minimum paydays, Arum said. There have been no conversations yet about a new contract, he said.

Looks like Arum isn't the devil after all. HBO simply doesn't want to waste time and space putting him on when so little people will watch.

Rigo better get his ass to Showtime quick, I'm not sure what they can do for him either but we'll see.

In a lot of cases, when fans complain of boring fights or a fighter in particular who is boring -- they're casuals who are just blood thirsty. I have a few friends like that. If a fight isn't absolutely brutal where guys are suffering damn near brain damaging shots in every round -- it's boring to them. No brutal KOs? Boring fight. No KDs in every other round? Boring.

To me a boring fight is a fight where each fighter is holding every 5 seconds. Now that ish is boring. But pure boxing, where it's like a chess match...that **** is fascinating to me.

He has (on record) BASHED his own "product" numerous times ... I don't care what industry you're in, that can't be good for business. If that's not cutting off your nose to spite your face I don't know what is. Spare me the "he's just being honest" ****, we're stalking about Bob "I was lying yesterday but today I'm telling the truth" Arum.

That chess match in your sig doe > Rigo

That guy in the red gloves would take Rigo's title, no doubt.
