Yeah, but Matthysse would have won that too were it not for freak eye injury and getting caught in the ropes before a shifty k/d. Hell, it was close enough as it was, 114-112 on two cards.
In saying that, Broner is durable, he's big, he's a good counter-puncher and he's a dirty fighter who will take cheap shots, Matthysse is too nice. I favor Lucas, but I agree it could be competitive.Comment

He fought the bigger puncher at a higher weight. He still went 12 rounds, Matthysse fought a guy moving up, there's a difference. Either way as of right now, I would say their chin is about the same, both men have a ton of heart, and the fight is 50/50.
Both men have flaws, and both men are desperate need of a solid win.
Did I say anything fanboyish here?Last edited by PurePugilist216; 07-06-2014, 08:22 PM.Comment

I actually think Broner would come out looking good, scoring rounds early and taking a sizable lead on the cards. And then somewhere in the second half of the fight Lucas would catch him with one shot and knock him the f**k out.Comment

It's concerning that he went down at all, but Matthysse didn't look hurt after either knockdown. He got up and beat Molina's ass both times. It really was rather one-sided, especially over the last 5 rounds or so after the back of the head KD.
Still, I don't think Lucas looked good in that fight.
I think you're overthinking this.Comment

I actually don't think Broner would start looking good. He'd be getting out worked and tagged from the get-go and then it'd turn into a bloodbath. In other words, make this fight.Comment
