Awesome stuff from Lara! It's great to see an immigrant being grateful to our country and embracing it. I only wish that other immigrants were as grateful and embracing to our great country!

I respect you Mr. Lara and wish you all the best, and I'm proud to call you a fellow American.

I understand exactly what you mean and agree with you 100%! For what it's worth, this is coming form a Mexican-American.

**** em, or any punk who talks down about America, having been to and lived in many nations people just don't get it that America truly is the land of the free.

I'd figure he'd rock the American flag on his trunks since he's "The American Dream". Maybe I'm nitpicking but outside of the nickname I don't see the patriotism he speaks of. I do remember him fighting in trunks with the Mexican flag colors and wearing a Sombrero in a post fight. I know he's trying to build up a fan base since Cuban fans don't support like Mexican and American fans do but it's pretty obvious he's pandering. I like the nickname and I'm glad he appreciates the opportunities afforded to him in this country, but sometimes it's hard to believe it when he always fights with that damn Cuban flag on his trunks. lol

I see Mexican-Americans being quite critical of the US online, it seems like they want it to be Mexico or more Mexican. It's almost as if they don't feel as American as they do Mexican. But surely they can see the US is a better and more prosperous nation? the last thing it needs is to turn into another Mexico.

On Lara, one of the best things you can do to embrace a new country is to embrace its language. I read Lara does speak English but he isn't doing so on All Access.

                      Amen, compadre!!!

This story has a very powerful message. It gives me goosebumps.

My mom, grandmother, and uncle agree wholeheartedly with Lara's appreciation of this country. They share his exact sentiments.

If any of you have the opportunity to sit down and converse with some first generation Cubans, do so and you will realize(if you haven't already) that we live in the greatest country in the world.
