Posted this in another thread, but I think it fits here:

I drove up from KC to Omaha for the fight last night, and yes, it was a great night for boxing and a great night for Omaha. There was an absolute buzz around the city all day yesterday while my wife and I hit up the bars around the downtown area. Everyone knew what was going on and seemed excited. The venue itself, CenturyLink, was quite surprising to me, and is an awesome venue for fights and I will be shocked if HBO doesn't bring another card there soon. Michael Buffer actually got up right before the fight and expressed how impressed he and HBO was with Omaha, and that barring how the title fight went, he would not be surprised if they are not back again soon.

I think final attendance was listed at right under 11,000, but the arena still probably held another 4-5,000. They had the entire top section blocked off. In reference to the fans that attended, it was definitely majority African Americans and Latinos. There were whites scattered, but not too many, which was actually surprising considering it is Nebraska.

I would like to see another card there with other Midwest fighters like Devon Alexander (being with GBP) or Brandon Rios on the undercard or even matching up with Crawford if he can grab a belt at 140 from Algieri.

You keep saying excuses these are the facts. Gamboa was rusty. period. doesn't mean he would have won but I don't think TC beats a sharper Gamboa that way..
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! It has dawned to me that your man crush got demolished. And you are looking for any hope to salvage hope for him.

No version of Gamboa beats Crawford. Gamboa had the same problem Martinez had against Cotto. He keeps his lead hand down. The guy is not defensive responsible. Crawford was sharp and exposed Gamboa.

No facts have been given by you, just excuses for your man jizz

I was more impressed with Yuri's effort.....props to Crawford though...he did what he was supposed to and made good use of his physical advantages and making Yuri pay for his technical flaws....the adjustments Crawford made deserves props as well but Yuri went down gunning and I just can't help but salute the lil man's bravery!!

I'd much rather see him stay at 135 and unify with Vasquez who could give him a good scrap!
He doesn't have to be a puncher. Crawford has real defensive capabilities and technical skill, and this was evident from the first time I saw him fight. Gamboa's speed and explosiveness made it competitive for the first 4 rounds, but other guys at say, 140, don't have that trump card and can be defenced rather easily for one of Crawford's skill.

It had nothing to do with Crawford switching southpaw and checking Gamboa coming in with right jabs and hooks, eh? And after defusing Gamboa with those, switching back orth in the red zone and nailing him with left hooks and right uppercuts? Or how about how Crawford began parrying and blocking a lot of Gamboa's attacks that were having early success. Nothing to do with that....

Pacqiuao faces much of the same hurdles you are talking about with range and in and out movement, but no one is making any excuses about him. When Gamboa was succeeding with his explosive style in the past no one was crying. It's when someone figures out how to capitalize on Gamboa's flaws that the new narrative becomes "the fighter that beat Gamboa did nothing to win but be bigger..." Righhhht.

Why? He has real technical skill and some pop. You can either get easily outboxed or possibly even stopped as a plan B.

People really need to give Crawdad his props. It comes across as sour g****s.
