Elite fighter? LOL Crawford is an elite fighter...Wow, typical prisoner of the moment, no? He beat a weak-chinned smaller fighter and now he's elite lol...

Let's see what Crawford does against bigger guys who can take his power before we label him as "elite." I saw a lot of flaws in Crawford..now maybe he knew he was bigger and could take Gamboa's shot so he wasn't as defensive but let's see what he does with the big boys at 40-47 before we start putting on that elite level.

He fights for Top Rank, so I'm assuming this fight puts him the Pacquiao sweepstakes lol...Alvarado, Tim Bradley, or Algieri...could be opponents as well...

    • It would be interesting if/when Mikey Garcia moves up to LW seeing Crawford and him go at it. I'd give Garcia a slight edge, but either way it would be a great fight.

As for Gamboa, he just needs to move back down to JLW, and be more active. Lotta talent there. No sense letting it go to waste. And no shame in losing to someone who is too big to be fighting in the first place.

And BTW, it was great seeing Ron Stander for a few secs on the program. Nice seeing the old warrior get the spotlight for a bit. There's a guy who has been thru he!! and back in his lifetime. A good story about Ron: http://leoadambiga.wordpress.com/201...iends-in-need/

He KOed a weak-chinned guy he was much bigger than...let's calm down with Crawford...let him fight guys who will actually handle his punching power at 140 and see what he's really made of...
Nobody is thinking about him fighting the greatest fighter of this era (Mayweather), they're talking about him fighting Pacquiao. I think Pacquiao is probably still too much for him, but I would like to see Crawford fight Manny at 140 more than Algeri. If Manny is not gonna fight any Haymon fighters or Luis Abregu, Crawford is the next best opponent for a PPV event.

Which is why Crawford got hit, the answer is no, Crawford holds his own.
I don't think I ever said he couldn't hold his own. I said his defense was a lil leaky last night. And when he's in with bigger hitters, it could be a problem. Broner looked like a P4P elite against Demarco. But his defense got leaky against Rees and Paulie. He got comfortable standing in front of guys, walking them down, and eating their shots in order to get off. And that bit him in the ass against Maidana. For all we know, TC may have an ATG chin. And it wasn't that Gamboa didn't carry his power up. But TC has a great chin. But if he doesn't. Eating as much leather as he did last night could come back to bite him.

          • Good win 4 Crawford, , decent fighter, vs a over-hyped,lazy guy w/long periods of inacivity that was xposed ..Gamboa fades away in Little Havana, he has no marketability ...

            • This was inevitable for Gamboa. He has no defense once he gets caught with a good shot. He just relies on his athleticism and that's just not enough when you're facing adversity. Crawford is a solid fighter and shows a lot of potential. Gamboa still fights like an ametuer after all this time what he needs is an actual trainer to teach him proper defense. This proably would have happened a lot sooner if he had fought Juanma back when the fight was hot. Hopefully this is the reality check he needed. As for Crawford I see nothing more for him at lightweight, move up to 140 where the bigger names are. He's a solid fighter but he had the right guy to make him look good in there so I'm not going to praise him just yet

Nothing against tc but his a$$ needs to stay at 135 before he turns to mike dallas at 140
He'll be fighting on the TR side of things, so I see him out fighting Vargas, out boxing Rios and provo. Manny expects to go down in weight, so I can see him 50-50 there

He was able to get away with it with smaller opponents but this fighting style with your hands down and never covering your chin almost never lasts ask Naseem Hamed among others.

At this point, Gamboa may be damaged goods UNLESS he revamps his style to prepare more to avoid shots.

Crawford didn't impress me much. I think he was just a bigger guy fighting a smaller guy who couldn't take his punching power. Will truly see what Crawford is made of when he fights bigger guys who can take his punching power and then he has to adjust to that. Easy to adjust when you hurt the guy with every power punch you throw.
Didn't seem to hurt Lomenchenko, and Rigo too much.

Also Crawford didn't have problems adjusting to a power punching Prescott, so I think he adjusts pretty well
