Ppl care about ppv and tv ratings when it suits them and their agendas. All this tells me tho is that boxing numbers are down across the board. I wonder why? I personally think there's just been too many ppvs this year.

Bob is spot on here:
"The numbers were not great," said Arum, who is rehabilitating in Los Angeles after having knee replacement surgery last week. "All the numbers boxing has been getting on pay-per-view have been terrible. It's not disappointing; it just is what it is. There are too many (pay-per-view cards).
"Pay-per-view was always designed, as was closed circuit back in the day, for true super fights, not just very good fights. There have been pay-per-views every month and people resent the fact that they're asked to pay extra for anything halfway decent. Boxing pay-per-view numbers are down. Look at the (recent) numbers for the (Floyd) Mayweather and (Manny) Pacquiao fights. The UFC pay-per-view numbers are also down."
Been saying this for a while now. This year has gone way overboard with the PPV. Many of them are Boxing after dark/Show Box calibre matches. I'm glad these cards are flopping. PPV should only be for real superfights.
That being said, Bob needs to lay off the morphine if he tries to push Pacquiao-Algieri after saying all that.
I agree, there's too many PPV cards. And you know what, in some respect, it's not just that there's too many. It's the cost! The PPV's a very expensive, and we are still in a tough economy. Times are still rough for folks. Not many have the cash to be buying at these prices.
And with the sky high cable bills on top of that?

use to be only pac and may on ppv this year has been way too many. canelo-angulo and martinez-cotto both should have been on sho/hbo. The ufc are taking a big hit as well with ppv. their biggest ppv this year only did 350k and thay have a ppv every month.Comment

Cable prices have actually decreased as of late. It's crazy. I have all the premium channels for like $24. I live in NYC in a FiOS market. That's a good deal.I agree, there's too many PPV cards. Combination of factors. Too many PPV's, the price of the PPV's, and then the bad economy as well. These things together are not a good recipe.Comment

Really? Maybe that's just Verizon. Cause others like Comcast charge a fortune.
That's good to hear Verizon doing competitive pricing, bringing prices lower. It's about time.Comment

its a real bad number canelo-angulo did the same numbers and that was two guys coming off a loss. The funny thing is Bob wants to make cotto-bradley on hbo ppv thatll do even less lol.Comment
