Bit of a contradiction how exactly was Canelo getting the better fights if Lara was the one facing better competition? If he's talking about the caliber of opponents Lara had every opportunity to beat the best at 154 while Canelo was being matched up with WW's until the Trout fight. If anything he had the better fights which he apparently didn't want as he felt he was being "fed".
You were matched up against all the best fighters in the division what exactly are you complaining about? Other than the Mayweather fight he's fought all the big names in the division and maybe Cotto, but Canelo couldn't even get a Cotto fight. If he was truly as dominant as he thinks he would've embarrassed or at least clearly beat Vanes and set up the Canelo fight years ago instead of delivering a lackluster performance in drawing with Vanes. It's always easier to point fingers instead of taking responsibility for what you failed to do inside the ring.Comment

First, Miguel Vazquez isn't as highly regarded as Lara, Gamboa, and especially Rigo.
Even if fighters are exciting (which helps), being that boxing isn't mainstream anymore, a fighter's ethnicity does matter. Regardless of the fact that Canelo does have actual boxing skills, you don't think him being a Mexican that looks white doesn't have an impact?
When Shane Mosley was 35-0 with 38 ko's he had an exciting style, but still couldn't break into the mainstream like that; even after beating DLH.Comment

lara being mexican will do nothing for him, mexicans dont like runners...First, Miguel Vazquez isn't as highly regarded as Lara, Gamboa, and especially Rigo.

^^^^^^^Exactly. This guy was given the opportunity many times to look good and he always came up short. VS vanes he obviously couldn't do enough to get the nod on the cards and the molina fight he lost but they gave him a draw to help his reputation, if anything they helped him out even more by putting him in with a soft touch like austin trout, fresh from his first loss and making him look good after getting exposed by a brawler in angulo. This guy needs to pull his head out of his ass. This is why he will lose, he really believes canelo is some hype job and hes going to walk through him lol I cant wait til july 12thBit of a contradiction how exactly was Canelo getting the better fights if Lara was the one facing better competition? its about good looks too, being a white mexican has nothing to do with it. lara and rigo are some ugly mofos with a boring style, nothin can help them but plastic surgery and some balls when they come in the ring to fight. Sal sanchez was as native looking mexican and had a huge following. We just get behind our fighters, especially when they are knocking people out and leave it all in the ring.First, Miguel Vazquez isn't as highly regarded as Lara, Gamboa, and especially Rigo.

That was after he beat DLH. My point being that even after defeating DLH and having a fan friendly style he still couldn't headline a ppv without another fighter to carry it.
Mexican's might not like runners, but if that "runner" is relatively dominant and respected the world over they'd learn to like him.Comment

your theory is weak, DLH was the man until floyd beat him then DLH was still very popular and Manny whipped his ass. This catapulted Manny into the the star we know today. Floyd too, nobody really knew floyd til he beat DLH. Do you think it was the filipino fan base that made him have this cross-over appeal? NO he was knocking everyone one out and was a friendly guy who spoke pretty good broken english but US fell in love with him. stop trying to make everything about raceThat was after he beat DLH. You are just being ****** now. Mexico is a boxing crazed nation of over 120 million people; with a diaspora of 41 or so million in the USA.its about good looks too, being a white mexican has nothing to do with it. lara and rigo are some ugly mofos with a boring style, nothin can help them but plastic surgery and some balls when they come in the ring to fight. Being a white "good" looking Mexican, especially in the USA, helps his marketability.
Cuba is a much smaller nation, cut off from the US, with a much smaller diaspora in the USA. To add to that, I'm not sure the average Cuban, in the USA, is as big a boxing fan as the average Mexican.Comment
