Does Jim Lampley dislike Max Kellerman?

    Okay so the inevitable question:

Lampley vs Kellerman at catch-age 50. Lamps would have to go down 15 years and Max would have to come up 10. I think 55 is too unrealistic for Max to make.

Now Max is certainly the more athletic of the two. Reach advantage as well. If Max keeps the fight on the outside then Lamps would have some problems. But we all know that Jim can end or change the fight with a single power punch.

    Make it happen at Barclay's.

      Bad chemistry between those two.

An example of the opposite is Lampley and Roy Jones or Andre Ward. He's always complimenting them, agreeing with them, and going to them for their opinion.

He calls Roy Jones a boxing expert and Max Kellerman a boxing commentator.

I felt that was a little jab at Max. It was the way he delivered it.

Am I looking into it too much?
And as for referring to Roy Jones as a boxing expert, he is and neither Max, Jim or that a hole Larry IMO should be considered one. All of them are on the outside looking in and until you take a punch in the ring at the highest level you're just a talking head with a job.....

Lampley had major man-love for Barrera. He was always so biased in favor of Barrera and would get all excited whenever MAB won.

He even said during the 3rd Morales fight, "no offense to you Roy, but Marco Antonio Barrera is the smartest boxer I have ever met".

The Prince Naz thing was another case of Lampley getting so into it because Barrera was about to win. During the fight, he was even more dramatic and added his own dialogue with more emphasis. "Barrera says to Hamed, come on...COME ON!!!!!!".

"Hamed was the betting favorite. Where was the respect for Marco Antonio Barrera?"

During the JMM fight, he must have seen that replay of the knockdown about 5 times before he finally admitted that MAB took a shot at JMM when he was down.

Lampley also has man-love for Miguel Cotto & Oscar De La Hoya.

IMO, he is more of a company man when he had biased commentary in favor of Pacquiao, Jermain Taylor, Khan. His commentary during Khan-Maidana was pretty awful and painfully biased. Maidana hurt Amir, and while Khan didn't hold, he backed up and covered up. He didn't throw a single punch, he was focused on blocking Maidana's shots.

So of course, Lampley gets all excited and go "Khan wants to fight! TOO MUCH HEART for Khan!"

Not sure exactly what his opinion on Meldrick Taylor was, but his commentary during Chavez-Taylor 1 was awful. So biased in favor of Taylor, even claiming that Chavez was about to get knocked down when he did not look hurt at all.

That said, Lampley is charismatic and has a lot of memorable moments. I respect his passion for the sport, while Larry Merchant acts so negative and bored. I'm sure Merchant loves boxing too, but the way he acts sometimes, is just so negative. I wonder if casual fans who might happen to watch a fight might listen to him and think "damn, even the paid commentator doesn't seem to respect the sport".

Kellerman, well, overall I think he is okay. It's funny when they do the Face-Off and they start off with his big bug eyes looking at the camera and him naming the fighters, trying to add drama, all while having this ****** look on his face.

Lampley need to be replaced anyway

HBO need to hire THIS GUY GOOD OLE JR!:

Some damn excitement to the Broadcast and the entire presentation of boxing which we really don't see anymore if at all. Now we are getting just a bunch of Bias BS and announcers forcing their opinions on us. When the guy they don't want to win is doing well these idiots (Lampley and Kellerman) starts to ignore the fight and have side conversations. Algiere was snapping Ruslan head back with jabs and they act like they did not see it SMH... So they both can go!

Lampley I think has been an asset to the sport. He knows his stuff, and his voice and commentating are legendary in the modern age of boxing.

Max Kellerman came on the scene as a young, fresh face who related to the younger crowd. Now, he's turned into a complete prick. He challenges Roy all the time and 90% of the time is made to look ******.

I also think he shows incredible bias for NY based and east coast fighters. I understand that's where he's from or grew up but still, it's annoying.

I can't stand Max Kellerman anymore. He used to commentate on the sport, now he preaches about the sport as if he's some expert. You can see Roy gets annoyed with him because he says the typical ****** **** that people say who have never fought and it irks Roy. Irks the **** out me as well.

No, I don't think Lampley dislikes him. I watched an interview with Lampley a while back where he said Max was the best young broadcaster in the sport and should be the guy to replace him when he retires.

kellerman lost me as a fan when he acted like a total square during the floyd mosley hopkins interview dust up interview along with his rachel maddow manny pacquiao analogy.

ive hated his guts ever since.

imagine having to work with him?

he sucks massive balls compared to larry merchant.
