  • Does Jim Lampley dislike Max Kellerman?

I get the sense that Lampley does not like Kellerman. He does little subtle things that alerted me to this, i.e. cut off Max, ignore him, look at him as if he's holding back an angry feeling.

    Bad chemistry between those two.

An example of the opposite is Lampley and Roy Jones or Andre Ward. He's always complimenting them, agreeing with them, and going to them for their opinion.

He calls Roy Jones a boxing expert and Max Kellerman a boxing commentator.

I felt that was a little jab at Max. It was the way he delivered it.

Am I looking into it too much?

He also did this to Larry Merchant at times.

I think you're reading too much into it. He always has a snarky/just smelled a fart look on his face, and has that really direct way of speaking, and it comes off kind of douchey.

I'm sure Max wouldn't even have that job if Lampley didn't like him. HBO boxing wouldn't want to piss off a guy that's pretty much been their voice for God knows how long.

I doubt he dislikes him. They seem to get along well enough. Like someone here said, if Lampley didn't like him I doubt Kellerman would still be around.

Naw Max doesn't like it there, he's a pc prisoner these days, you hear him talking boxing on espn he's a different man with different views.....

Pre May vs Maidana on Sportsnation Wiley joked with Max that he's going to the fight, and asked why Max isn't going, he says oh yeah you on HBO and showtime show all the good fights, and Max smirked put his head down and sulked

Max the rebel is forced to be a puppet like lampley and it irks him, Max will eventually blow up and go off...................

Lampley is a tosser. His indigestible nonsense makes boxing fans want to slap him in the face with a rotten fish.

The man needs to sort his bias out or leave because eventually people will switch off due to his garbage.

Nice cheesy hype guys. Can't wait to see these two in the ring.

I've heard him say some pretty ****** stuff like during the prince Naz fight but I don't know if he's systematically biased. Who do you think he's biased for/against?

He just seems to get into it a lot more than most commentators. Maybe I'm biased though. I grew up listening to him call fights. I miss Merchant more though.

I did notice that. I bet he wishes he was with Bernstein and Paulie.

Max and Paulie seem like they would really work well off each other.

That's a succinct and hilarious way of describing him.

Max doesn't feel authentic on HBO. He feels fake, often uncomfortable, and consequently awkward.

                    Merchant felt more real IMO.
