From Schaefer's POV. It would irritate the hell outta me if I've basically built a company from the ground up into the top promotional company in the sport. Then the figure head that's basically done nothing but show up at press conferences and take pictures. Goes to rehab, come out working all this recovery bull****, and within a matter of months reduced what I've built up into a farm system for Arum to come and pluck who he wants to make a show with. And play second fiddle to a company that I've surpassed.

His job was to rake in the money and provide appearances while Schaefer did his job. But Schaefer formed a COUP DE TA and signed all of GBP fighters to Haymon trying to mutinize GPB. It's Oscars majority stake that's in jeopardy. Schafer is a banker who tried to form a boxing bubble like the housing bubble....can't be trusted just like Haymon. Oscar's original company was to be for the fans....Schaefer was for swindling the fans!

Its not a "couple week" deal. Bernard Hopkins made it very clear that GBP has nothing booked past July. But its fine. If your satisfied with the tease of the occassional big fight and the reality of NO fights. And feel that's good for boxing. I got some swamp land I'd like to sell you.

I dont think some of the people really understand what haymon is and does. Haymon is a manager of boxers just like shelly finkle is a manager of boxers. Haymon is not a promoter. And I just have to laugh at all the hate richard gets while arum gets a pass. I remember when richard wanted abner mares to fight a top rank fighter (I forget which one) arum offered 300k for the purse bid while richard offered 700k. Arum pulled his fighter. Arum only wants to be the only promoter for his fighter. Arum will use oscar and raid his stable. Yet all you see is hate for richard and haymon. Dudes were betting excited about a possible pac vs swift fight. I nad to lol arum would never put pac in the ring vs swift or canelo. Heck be wont even fight Guerrero. Arum is ruining pacs rep. To bad pac re signed with top rank and had to accept those options for more fights.

Let's see how this plays out, I really don't care who promotes who or who the CEO of a promoting company is or was, as long as we get everyone working together then it's better for the sport. I like oscars attitude from GBP point of view and it's refreshing to see, now let's see if Arum would work with anyone else.

It's really quite simple. If GB and TR work together they can make big fights and monopolize boxing. If their attempt to work together falls apart or moves very slowly (most likely scenario) then Golden Boy falls apart.

It comes down to whether Oscar and Bob actually have a plan and made a calculated risk in choosing each other over Schaeffer, or if Bob just asked Oscar to sign something in exchange for ******* and *****s and Oscar has no idea what he's doing.

Great post, Good breakdown if by some miracle TR and GB get their ish together quick they'd run boxing. I don't think it'll happen but you never know.

You say this like Oscar is an astute businessman. He can all these things but he was not at negotiating table for anything. He was and is just a faceman. Bob Arum is going to rake him over the coals. Stop confusing Oscar the boxer with Oscar the businessman, they totally different. He hired Schaefer to run GBP for a reason, the reason is he is not a businessman. HBP is in trouble.

Right now everything Oscar says is just lip service. Because after ththis Devon Alexander card and then the Canelo card, i don't sh__ happening. Get an event for September or October and then we'll see if you are doing whats best for boxing fans
