Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Hopes To Continue Working With Mayweather

Even while Golden Boy has a triple header event scheduled at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA this Saturday night, the question that looms over Oscar De La Hoya is what is going on with his company and what’s going to happen now with the departure of his former CEO Richard Schaefer.

Schaefer and De La Hoya’s relationship became strained when De La Hoya made it his goal to make peace with rival promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and looked to start working together again. This did not sit well with Schaefer and eventually he stepped down from his position at Golden Boy.

De la hoy only said that he will work with everybody and that after Floyd said he wasn't working with GBP's, retracted the day after. Which Floyd did.

Yet I haven't seen any retracted statements Oscar is claiming.

Instead what is being said, is that Goldenboy has no fights that dates past July. Well that's what partner Bernard Hopkins have told media. I don't hear Arum reaching across the aisle of having trouble scheduling fights, he has fights lined up already in August.

Floyd did quickly said he was willing to rematches with Canelo and Maidana.

Dela Hoya is a millionaire, doe. Who do you think are hurting when fights are not made? Exactly. The fighters. They have mouths to feed, bodies to clothe and kids to send to school. 2 PPVs a year would still make GBP stay afloat. Do you mean Haymon is preventing his fighters to fight with GBP?

It's really quite simple. If GB and TR work together they can make big fights and monopolize boxing. If their attempt to work together falls apart or moves very slowly (most likely scenario) then Golden Boy falls apart.

It comes down to whether Oscar and Bob actually have a plan and made a calculated risk in choosing each other over Schaeffer, or if Bob just asked Oscar to sign something in exchange for ******* and *****s and Oscar has no idea what he's doing.

Come on with your ********** tendencies.

It was Leonard Ellerbe who said those things in a sarcastic tone about Canelo.. and Maidana is with Haymon.
