Similar fight to Garcia vs. Herrera. Ruslan landed the harder shots whilst Algieri outlanded and outboxed him. In my eyes Algieri did enough to win the fight.

114-112 ruslan, but algieri win is okay since it's a close call. At least nsb people are not crying for robbery like the herera fight. Arum plotted the right plan

Sorry, but him getting peppered with pitty pat range finders is not effective clean punching, maybe in the amateurs but not here. He didn't move away nearly as much as you would think. He sat on the ropes more than a few times when Prov cut the ring off and got hit with punches that moved him.
Coming forward does not qualify as effective aggression. The judges manual specifically says that. I'll post it when I get home.

And he did more than jab. He snapped Ruslans head back and scored to the body throughout the fight.

Ruslan had very little success after round 1. He had his moments but not enough to win on points.

I totally agree. I had Algeri clearly winning 8 rounds.

This is why European/South American fighters should look to fight in neutral venues or make the Americans come to their home turf...

Its a different story when the American is champ apparently you need to win decesively but other way around... WHO CARES...

Can't believe people are arguing for Provo here.

That was a pretty one sided victory. The on;y thing that made it somewhat close was the two first rd kd's and HBO's hype.

People picking Provo keep saying, well he landed the harder punches? Where the **** did he land them? He wasn't landing **** most of the rds. Notthing. In fact Algieri even with minimal power probably landed the harder shots in numerous rds.

                Rd. 1: Ruslan 10-7
                Rd. 2: Algieri 10-9
Rd. 3: Ruslan 10-9, could have gone either way.
                Rd. 4: Algieri 10-9
                Rd. 5: Algieri 10-9
Rd. 6: Algieri 10-9, close though. Kind of unsure about this round.
Rd. 7: Algieri 10-9, Ruslan looked like he had it early. Too inactive late. At this point I'm laughing at HBO's commentary.
                Rd. 8: Algieri 10-9
Rd. 9: Algieri 10-9. He's smacking Ruslan around bad these last two rounds.
                Rd. 10: Algieri 10-9
                Rd. 11: Algieri 10-9
                Rd. 12: Ruslan 10-9

Yeah, I had Algieri winning. Don't need to tally all that up to know. Even giving Ruslan every round I thought he could get, I don't think he wins the fight.

the rounds were close. algeiri was getting hit with hard shots, but he was also peppering provodnikov in spots.

awesome fight. great clash of styles. provodnikov has become a very overrated fighter, and i've said this. he was an ESPN fighter fora w hile, and wasn't outclassing guys, just outworking them often.

close boxing matches can go to either guy. that's just how it works.

Can't disagree with this, I gave Provo rd 1, 3, 12 and their was one middle rd I felt he may have won, but other then that, it was a straight schooling.

desperation, thy name is a big HBO push for provodnikov.

i couldn't believe how much stock they were putting into the guy. i like ruslan. he's good for the sport. he is what he is.
