What did Fernando Vargas do wrong in the Felix Trinidad fight?

Experienced really showed that night. Tito imposed his fight early and when he was in trouble he got the better shots on Vargas below the belt. You can see the momentum of the fight changing and sure enough Tito would hit Vargas below the belt. I cant say Vargas would of beat Tito but those shots below the belt Vargas received physically damaged , stopped his momentum, and changed the fight without a doubt.

Should have worn a cup protector with razor blades. Would like to see Tito punch his balls next time he's hurt.
Would have also checked his wraps.

Vargas was a sucker for a left hook. While he was good technically, he was never the fastest fighter. His speed to me was at best average with great timing. He would have lost to any good fighter with a great left hook. That includes Oscar and Tito. Honestly I thought he lost the Winky fight also.

The question itself is one of the problems when people judge Tito.
I think he was an underrated boxer and he could hit very hard.
Vargas chose to go to war at times with a heavy handed fighter who could box as well as punch and fight dirty.
In short, a real pro.
People tend to think of Tito as just a puncher but he could be very patient before unleashing the bombs.
