For Cotto, it's certainly one of his top three wins. Regardless of Martinez and his condition, he still dethroned the MW king and made history. Martinez and his team aren't making any excuses.

      1) Cotto vs Mosley
      2)Tito vs Whitaker
      3)Oscar vs Chavez
      4)Floyd vs Mosley
      5)Cotto vs Martinez

The ghost of martinez was what showed up against Cotto, blow some air at him and he would fall. Most of the time Martinez didn't even look hurt and he quickly got up from all the knockdowns but his legs couldn't allow him to throw a punch properly.

Sergio was Cotto's best win IMO because of the fashion in which he won in. He completely dominated the middle weight champ who had every fighting advantage of him. Not only that, it made him the first PR to win a title in his 4th weight division.

Funny how Martinez is being called a "washed up cripple" and all sorts of things, yet Cotto was a 2to1 underdog. Martinez was favored to win the fight. Martinez was the reigning, lineal middleweight champion. As of right now, Martinez being washed up and "crippled" is all just speculation and unfounded claims based on personal opinions. There is no evidence that Martinez had issues with his knees in the fight. It is highly possible that Cotto just rocked him early & had the right game plan to make him look that bad. Cotto is probably the best technical fighter that Martinez has ever faced. I think Cotto deserves all the credit in the world right now. He took a huge risk, worked hard, got in great shape, developed a good strategy and executed it perfectly.

Martinez has displayed tremendous character in defeat. I admire his character. Even Cotto could learn from him, as Cotto just leaves the ring after suffering a defeat. Sergio stayed in the fight despite being pummeled, begged for it not to be stopped and made no excuses after it was over. He even said how he respected his trainer's decision. Sergio really seems like a great person, and other fighters/fans could learn a lot from him.

No they weren't. It was a close fight, but the majority had it for Sergio over Murray.

Can't believe I forgot PW. And while most say he was shot, I saw Cotto outclassing him and outboxing him. Cotto was a better fighter. The Sergio that fought JCC Jr. loses. The one that fought PW loses. Cotto is no spring chicken either.

In my opinion all htese are solid wins, but on this forum certain fights get discedited while others are praised... Ya'll discredit Calzaghes wins over Roy and Hopkins but praise Cottos over Martinez...Please explain and please no name calling of flaming
Specifically addressing Calzaghe versus Hopkins a case could be made that Hopkins pulled off of a draw in that fight. Calzaghe landed almost no clean punches on bhop, I've watched the fight many times.

Roy Jones was shot to **** and still knocked Calzahhe down and almost out.

                  ... no just no...

Joe whooped a past it Roy Jones jr and he clearly deserved the decision against Bhop!
FFS all Bhop did was clinch the total amount of clinches he did after the fight was over was 80!!!
Joe threw more and landed more and controlled the fight easily 116-112 definitely no draw.
