In my opinion all htese are solid wins, but on this forum certain fights get discedited while others are praised... Ya'll discredit Calzaghes wins over Roy and Hopkins but praise Cottos over Martinez...Please explain and please no name calling of flaming

All those "solid wins" you mentioned are weak... No need to explain why. I'm a HUGE Miguel Cotto fan, but Martinez did not fall from flush shots. He got a gift against Murray & looked as if he got old over night. NOT BASHING Cotto AT ALL he's one of my all time favorites, but he's had FAR more impressive wins than the Sergio fight. Cong**** to him thou for making history & always stepping up to fighters everyone else avoids.

Rocky Marcianos win over Joe Louis, what was once the complete heavyweight now depleted and at the end of his career and just simply didn't have it anymore.

I'd also say Joe's win over Roy was the only biggest BS fight that happened that shouldn't of happened...

Now they are just like no way was it Cotto's boxing ability or power, Martinez was a cripple. Yet, the guy fight 9 rounds crippled and his knee locked up how many times? Foreman fought 2 rounds and his knee locked up every 10 seconds. Martinez was floating like a butterfly in there AFTER the first 4 knock downs. Apparently Martinez wolverine like healing ability gets ignored...

Martinez was undeniably an unorthodox fighter he relied heavily upon his movement in the ring to keep his opponent out of range and to strike in and out from range...
He at his best is a tremendously gifted athlete, you can definitely state him not being at his prime how can you say this?

BOTH KNEES... he had to use those knee supporters to even fight and we all know that Martinez isn't the type of guy to make excuses he never does it!
But simply put there is no denying that Cotto feasted upon sloppy seconds of a fighter that has past his sell by date due to the many injuries and operations, this will be the last of Martinez we will ever see.

This was a great win over THE MW champ, clear and dominant. Martinez hadn't lost in over 10 years and had won 51 out of his 55 fights. He is 39, but this was a great win.
