If you are of the position that Cotto caught Martinez at a good time and is good enough to beat a past prime Martinez, then fair enough and I can accept that.

But if you come on here saying Cotto does the same thing to any version of Martinez, then you're a fanboy.

cotto is a very well liked fighter. the ppv and gate numbers are backed up by the rhetoric in NSB.

martinez was all done. credit to cotto for knocking him out when others couldn't, but martinez was still a shot fighter.


i've never seen such a marked fall from grace that didn't involve an ass kicking or a war. martinez' legs just went. his only war was the first williams fight, and he seemed decent in the two years following it.

Cotto is past prime but Sergio is completely shot. The evidence is overwhelming. He already looked shot against Murray, then ages another 14 months, on top of that goes through 2 knee surgeries.

I dont understand why Cotto fans refuse to believe that. I feel like unless we say "oh yeah Cotto KOs a prime Martinez" they think we are insulting Wilfredo Gomez and all of Puerto Rico.

I've torn my meniscus and did not have surgery. Looking a poor decision now as i may need to go back and get it done. Tough injuries, when i plant my leg, from time to time it will lock and takes 30seconds to a minute to recover.

Massive mental thing as when it happens, you don't go as hard afterwards. I think Martinez may have felt it lock once during the fight and after that, he weren't confident planting that right knee…why he wasn't getting any power. Maybe thats why he was saying the knee was fine as it weren't throughout the fight. It certainly locked again in the 8th round when he want for the left hook and nearly fell.

The whole fight was tough to watch, i really do think he will fight one more time in Argentina and that will be it.

Has Martinez seen better days? Sure. Same with cotto. Did everybody and their brother pick Martinez, in whatever condition, to murder cotto? Yes.

Why are you denying the fact that Martinez got seriously hurt right off the bat? Why are you disregarding the words straight from Martinez' mouth, that he was seriously hurt right off the bat and couldn't recover? Why aren't you taking these into consideration, and considering that maybe you saw a fighter who was seriously hurt and lost control of his legs(which happens all the time) as opposed to being shot and knees blown?
