Well, Im not going to get in a big pissing contest about this. Ive been around enough to know what works and what doesnt in a street fight. With that said im not saying that any of this would or wouldnt work. Im just speaking from experience and putting things into context. Most street fighters arent trying to be competetive and buy their time. Most street fights end in under a minute.

Now put a street fighter in a boxing ring or an octagon and it probably wouldnt bode well for them. (especially in a boxing ring)

Nah I know what you're saying, I wouldn't want to RELY on kicks in a real typical street fight either, they're chaotic and staying balanced and on your feet is priority. Most guys trying to throw a fancy kick in a street fight would end up very embarrassed.

I'm just saying that if someone is a trained kickboxer (your chances of running into one are about the same as winning the superlotto), they have quite a few ways to deal with "bumrushing".

Double up that jab and follow it up with a 2 or an overhand then a 7 to the body. Keep em in bunches.

A bunch of veritable experts here! First off take it from a martial artist and former bouncer...There are no hard and fast rules about what one uses and does not use in a street fight, it has more to do with when something is used. If you extend a jab out and my leg goes up and out at the same time towards your groin you cannot react to that kick, I have the reach (leg to arm) so maybe a kick is ok!!

The thing is there are so many potential dangers: weapons, other people waiting, cars, police, jail...should I go on? I pop you and you die...who wins?

Look guys heres the thing and take this or leave it... The biggest difference between a sport application and a combat application is the idea of position and place. When a sports guy sets up an opponent he tries to get position. The idea is to set up the opponent into a winning technique. In boxing, this takes the form of using a teaser technque, a jab, a feint, etc. The problem is that there is not time for that and when you are fighting for your life the body reacts differently. In Jui Jutsu this means mounting an opponent, setting a choke, locking it in. Sometimes this works, but it always takes time, etc. Also the hand functions differently when it is not gloved...

Sports jiu jitsu can be extremely violent...people get knocked down and brained now a days in street fights, recently a gracie guy put a bouncer in the hospital but...all it takes is someone who knows how the sports guys work, to put a knife into the kidney while the mount is attained...you can pracically wait while it happens and before the guy thinkiing he will ground and pound away feels a sharp insertion into his kidneys.

Any situation like the one the OP was involved in is potentially incredibly dangerous. These situations should be avoided at all costs.

So to get to the point, I got in to a phyiscal altercation with a guy bigger than me. So I hit him with a jab and he said "lol wtf was that BS" and he started circling around and anytime I would step to get close he would push me back.

I kept trying to close the distance but he kept circling around while keeping his distance while having two hands extended forward do I woulden't get close. In the end a bystander threatend to call the cops and we both left.

This was few months ago but me hitting him with a jab and he shaking it off really has made me lose faith in myself.

I don't know, ever since I been back in boxing I haven't been the same and am losing confident in my own skills.

Oh and I know fighting outside is wrong and I deeply regret it and I am deeply ashamed for being partly blamed for the incident.
son, don't just stand there jabbin this ma****a.

I just have one account. Sorry. But I do find it amusing how a lot of you guys get excited and lose control of yourselves over this multiple account business.

You should've said "how about this hook?"
