Floyd is going to duck the rematch hard. He almost didn't make it out of the first one and was peeing blood in the bathroom after the fight saying "that boy was tough... **** I might retire". Cotto was out of shape for that fight.

So just imagine what this PROPERLY trained Cotto would do to Mayweather.

No it would not raise Mayweather higher because lineal or no lineal Cotto is not the best middleweight in the world. If Mayweather fought GGG at 160 pounds that would raise him higher and be his career best win. Beating Cotto would just be doing something he, Pacquiao, Trout and Margarito have already done. Cotto may be better when he is trained by Roach but he is still Cotto and still a small Jr. middleweight. Beating Cotto would not raise him higher than he already is but Cotto beating Mayweather would raise Cotto higher.

There aren't many interesting matchups left for Mayweather. Taking on Cotto again after seeing how effective Maidana was will be dangerous. However, if Mayweather wants to break 1 million PPVs he better take on Cotto because that's a huge guaranteed payday.

Agreed. Health conscious Mayweather is going to want no part of Cotto right now. Even though he lost, Cotto busted up Mayweather and made him change trainers.

I'm not saying Cotto would win but Floyd would not want to suffer any damage in the process of winning.
