I will reiterate that I am a Cotto FAN. He's my favorite fighter, first one I ever paid PPV $$$ to see, and first one I paid to see live. He did what he was supposed to do, and looked great doing it. Plus, I believe it's better for the sport that he won. That being said, no one can tell me something wasn't wrong with Martinez's knees. Those getting into partially torn meniscus etc., I couldn't care less. Save your technicalities for someone who cares. The man's legs were not right, to the point that his mobility was greatly affected. That's all I need to know, and anyone with a working pair of eyes and a brain saw this too. I guess Jim Lampley and Roy Jones with there experience were out of there minds with what they observed during the fight. They must be nuts too I guess.

And everyone was on his nuts before... GTF out of here. The guy got rocked and never recovered legs or no legs this was Cottos night and he demolished Martinez, I paid plenty of money to see it live, and I for one do not feel robbed.
The guys who were on Martinez's jock strap on the other hand feel robbed. He got taken to school. Was off balance all night, Cotto cut the ring off wonderfully had Martinez flustered.
Don't Cry for me Argentina!

The fans were definately robbed by a guy looking to cash out on his final fight.
There were contract rules that changed after the "No Mas" Duran fight ,there should be some new ones for fighters that can't fight without wearing knee braces.

I am a fan of both fighters and i share the same opinion as most of you. Of coure the Martinez supporters and neutral boxing fans on this site are quite rare to be found but i am happy to see there are actual fans of the sport who can see what really happened there. Boxing is huge business and I can somewhat understand the other side of the medal as well. Cotto achieved something big that day and all his supporters and the media will just celebrate this as if he beat a prime lineal middleweight champ.
Why is that? Its obvious, it helps to keep the sport alive, when more people would question what happened that night and dig a little deeper that would just create controversy and that would hurt the sport of boxing, it would hurt HBO, the media, the commission, the fighters, the integrity of the sport. So everyone in the business just keeps quite about it and most of the "fans" just follow them like Lemmings without their own opinion.
The truth is most everyone from 154-160 pounds would have beat Martinez that night who shouldnt have been allowed to fight. I dont't critisize Cotto for doing what he had to do.

It was fairly obvious that this Sergio was far gone from the man who stopped Willams and beat Pavlik. Everyone hoped Martinez was in top form but it turned out he wasnt. Cotto did fight well and capitalized on the occasion. But in sadly this fight was over before it even began.
