funny you mention that considering roy had his right hand up when he got caught with that left

sometimes even with your hands up you get caught, like garcia vs barros

Again, what impressed me the most was Cotto just simply outboxing him. It wasn't just the fact that Martinez' knee wasn't 100% which by the way, he didn't complain about in the corner.

It was how easy Cotto was just out boxing him, and taking everything away from him. Martinez couldn't do anything, I mean nothing. His jab was ineffective, his left hand was being predicted over and over and Cotto was countering at will.

This was really a great performance, and let's remember what an injured Martinez did vs Murray and Jr...

This shows you that Cotto's boxing is on a complete other level. I really want to see Canelo vs Cotto now, IF Canelo can beat Lara.
I told everyone this as well. His boxing is at the ELITE level. There aren't many who aren't outboxing Cotto.

Well I was referring more to the fact that when Roy's physical skills started to drop, he was then KO'd.

I think Martinez has survived too long on his athletic ability.

Martinez looked far from sharp against Murray, he was already on the slide. I'm not gonna act like I thought Cotto was gonna win, I predicted Martinez would win. But Murray had already beaten Martinez in his last fight.

I really don't want to examine everything under a microscope, because it's easy to find excuses when you do that. If Martinez had collapsed the way Yuri Foreman did, it would be plain to see he was in no condition to fight. Sergio appeared to be moving well, but he got caught early and never recovered. He himself says that's what happened. I believe him. There isn't much else to say.
That was the point I saw even if Sergio had been stopped in the 1st round it would of opened the door on speculation but since he fought back and made an honest effort to win despite not being the same guy, Cotto had to stay on the accelerator or it would of been closer at least.

              Great post as usual Cuau.
Take away Sergio's left and he has nothing. Him slowing down with age didn't help either.
Funny how everyone is a Doctor now specializing in knees.
              Great win by Cotto.

Cuau brought a great point that should really put to rest the bias criticism against Cotto.

Cotto COMPLETELY dominated Martinez. Every second of every round. Even for a clearly shot Martinez, in my opinion any version of Martinez would of still had his hands full against this version of Cotto.

We have to see both sides people

Yea I mean, that's what really shocked me. Not so much that Cotto won, because I thought it was going to be a competitive fight. I was just shocked as to how easy this was for Cotto.

It was a sparring session at best. Martinez couldn't land anything, his jab was ineffective, his left hand was predictable and after that he had nothing.

Where as Cotto was landing everything he threw. He landed some great body shots, but they weren't even really a huge part of why he was breaking down Martinez. It had more to do with the jab and left hook.
