I Don't think Froch "owes" anyone when it comes to competition. Regardless of wins/losses or how close any wins were, Froch has one of the best stretches of a resume you'll find. Avenged one of his losses. Avenged a fight that many thought he was bested in even though he stopped Groves the first time.

He doesn't owe anyone to be pressed into a mandatory with someone who still has things to prove. Many good fighters can score impressive knockouts on an undercard, but that doesn't make them the most attractive and lucrative option.

Froch is hinting that he feels he has 1 or 2 more fights. He's put in a lot of hard work. Never come in out of shape. Fought the best even with his limitations and faired well. Always "brought it" and let what he had in the ring.

Calzaghe did it to him. Maybe he's finding out why. He wants the big names. The big money. The big market fights. DeGale shows to be a "threat" similar to Porter and Thurman for Mayweather or any WW. However they are not guys that fighters like Froch and Mayweather NEED to prove themselves against. Froch would do better to try to get Chavez Jr for money, Golovkin for more respect, trilogy with Kessler for interest and money, or even Light Heavyweight for the chance to conquer something new.

Not saying DeGale shouldn't be given a chance to dethrone a champion, but I don't think Froch owes him. It's up to how Froch wants to finish his career.

Wasn't Groves mandatory? And then IBF mandated the rematch? Is Froch supposed to fight mandatories 3 times in a row?

He'll likely fight Chavez next, vacate his IBF belt and then fight Kessler and retire. He's not going to take a risk in fighting Degale after what happened with Groves, and I don't really blame him for that. Let him make his money and close his career out with wins over an overhyped, mediocre punching bag like Chavez Jr and a shopworn, inactive Kessler.

So? Froch had a closer fight with Glen Johnson (one judge had it a draw) while Groves had a much easier time with him (shut out). Styles make fights.

Froch beat Groves easier than Degale did in the second fight while the first fight will always remain a mystery due to the controversial stoppage. Froch was well behind at that point. Maybe Groves could have survived and won the first fight, who knows for sure? But Froch trained harder and figured out Groves style a little more so he was much better prepared for him in the second fight. Degale might have done the same thing with Groves if they had a rematch - he might have knocked him out legitimately just like Froch did, if he had been given a second attempt.
