Golden Boy Promotions have been co-promoting Floyd Mayweather Jr. since he won a twelve round split decision over Oscar De La Hoya in May of 2007. Mayweather has never been on good terms with De La Hoya, the President of Golden Boy, but the unbeaten boxer was very close friends with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer.

When Schaefer made an announcement on Monday that he was officially leaving Golden Boy, it came as no surprise that Mayweather would terminate his business relationship with De La Hoya's company.

The history will be the worst enemy of FLOYD,he can be undeafeted but what he did to this sport is a shame without previous...he try all he can to avoid the best boxers for years,retirments when the division were hot and now that the COLD WAR is coming to a end he is running in the only direction he can to keep his ass healthy....what a shame,no respect for boxing fans at all!!! Floyd can retire today and walk away with more money than any athlete has ever earned (without endorsements), and one of the longest runs as champion ever in the sport. I expect him to be loyal to Richard Schaefer because Schaefer and Haymon have gotten him to where he is today. Somehow, i'm sure those 3 (4 counting B-Hop) will still prevail because of their business savvy. This is not Manny or Bradley we're talking abut. This is a whole different level!

You don't know history or you wouldn't be saying Floyd avoided the best boxers. If you knew history you would know that Arum is a snake. If you knew history you would know about Manny signing with both promoters, and how the "cold war" really started. You wouldn't be surprised that Manny has tax problems at home and abroad. You would know who stated Manny is scared of needles, "we need a stadium," etc. If you knew histroy, you would understand the significance of Floyd's contract with Showtime, the 2 largest PPVs, etc. Obviously you don't. Some fighters need special shakes, some fighters need special gloves, and some fighters are just special.
