He is stuck in the worse deal in boxing and I guess he thinks if he just wait it out somehow all of this will just go away. I think his deal with Goossen goes up to November 2016. I don't know why in the HELL would he sign a contract for that ***in long to be honest. But yeah he needs to get active even if it is not against a Big Name, good thing about his position is that if he fight BUMS nobody can actually BLAME HIM for it since clearly at 168 not many are looking to fight him right now.

J'Leon Love is now at 168 if I am not mistaken, that could be a option for him soon lol

Yes 175 is a option but even then, besides maybe B-Hop, none of those fighters are even stars of draws themselves YET. Ward vs Kovalev is not a PPV Fight that is HBO Network and neither is Stevenson.

So he might actually be better off waiting for either Chavez Jr to finally accept his challenge or wait for GGG to become a bigger star and eventually move up. He is in a tough situation!

If that's his plan, then it's a very bad plan that will end up backfiring on him. If it hasn't already.

Ward has to give these guys incentives to move up to fight him. The problem is his inactivity has made him less relevant by the month. His last fight with Rodriguez avg. barely a 1M viewers and it peaked at like 1.1M. That had a lot to do with the fact that he was out for an entire year and also his selection of opponent didn't help either. But it was really due to the inactivity. He hasn't fought since November 2013, and it looks like he might take the entire 2014 year off.

So why should GGG, who's pulling off amazing ratings, and Chavez jr. who is a ratings hit, move up to fight a guy who only enters the ring maybe once a year and puts up way worse numbers than them, and who will probably want a big piece of the purse? There's also no guarantee that the PPV (if there is one) would be a hit.

They're not on the same playing field anymore because GGG and Chavez Jr. have become bigger attractions. Also Ward has no leverage because GGG can stay at 160 and fight the other champs while bringing in bigger ratings. Chavez Jr. is a ratings hit no matter who he fights.

So in the end there is no incentive for either of them to move up to fight him.

What Ward needs to do is swallow his ego and pride and start taking some fights. Froch and his team have said that they'd be willing to fight Ward only if Ward goes to the UK. That should be a no-brainer for Ward at this point. That's a big money fight and a fight that he has a good chance of winning and it will get him back in the spot light. Or he can always move up to fight Kovalev at 175, which is also a fight that is maybe not a PPV fight but it is an HBO headliner.

He needs to start fighting someone in his weight class or above instead of waiting on GGG and Chavez which could never happen.

Sad thing is Ward was offered some pretty decent fights by his promoter but he turned them all down. Then he complains his promoter who he is suing isn't getting him fights. Basically he only wants Chavez jr and Carl Froch. Everything else is beneath him. He really needs a reality check and just stay busy. Boxing fans have short memories especially for guys that aren't that popular to begin with. Sit out a year and It's like, who? Andre Ward? He still fights?

Simply Put: He pissed it against a wall.

To put it more succinctly: He planted his feet before pissing it up against the wall.

            For real.

I heard him do an impromptu interview with Max & Marcellus on the red carpet for the espy's the other day. Basically he made the case that he is further along in his career at this point than Floyd was, and that a)he is being held back by promotional issues and b) that he has plenty of times to take things to another level.

I wish i could remember the phrase he used regard the promotional issues because it was very telling - basically it sounded like he is waiting out his current promotional contract. I got the impression that he is not going to make any major moves until then. made no mention of any upcoming fights, just an upcoming HBO fight that he will be calling

When will the Andre Ward-Dan Goosen feud be resolved?
Dan Rafael, King Fight Freak (12:37 PM)

There is supposed to be a court hearing next month as it winds its way through the legal system.
