Yeah the mega fight between canelo and mayweather was huge it was pretty cool we got to witness such a big fight go down but such a shame he got taken to school. I think the big company investment thing will still be a factor as long as he keeps winning, I understand what you mean by its gone, but if he keeps fighting the best and winning then the legend will just add to mayweather and they can sell it as "The only man he has lost to is mayweather" which would be pretty sweet if he never gets another loss for a long time. win or lose for landy I hope he gets bigger fights and doesn't just get written off id like to see him vs other big names just for the good of the sport.
You make a good argument for the future of Canelo's career. I can't say I disagree. But it'll be some time before the same buzz returns, if ever. Part of Alvarez's allure is his youth. It won't be the same in five or ten years. I guess we'll have to wait and see....

I do agree with you about why Lara needs to win so badly. He is dangerous, not a big name, doesn't have an entertaining style, and without a big name on his resume he is toast and won't be able to get money makers to fight him.
He is back to fighting contenders/prospects/decent names off of losses if he loses next month. I just think he isn't versatile enough and Canelo is on the up getting better all of the time.

I've been hearing some encouraging things about guys returning from TJ. They say it's an 80% success rate. I truly hope Jose falls into that majority. But I'm not worried about it. There's something about that kid. He's just a winner, the kind of person you never count out. It sucks he'll lose at least one year of his (very promising) career, but he's so young it shouldn't hurt him. He wasn't even supposed to be in the big leagues yet.

He turns 38 in February, and he arguably showed signs of aging in his last fight. I think he has too many options, and too many concerns on his mind, to even consider giving Alvarez a rematch. People say Mayweather ought to fight Lara if he wins, but that doesn't seem especially likely to me either.
