Excuses? Whatever the outcome is, I'll honor it, whether I agree with it or not. Besides, it's not that often that a decision is so close that objective fans can't agree on the judging. I don't think giving due credit will be a problem. As for being a "Canelo hater," you've got me mistaken for some whole other body. I like the kid. Believing he loses this fight makes me a hater? Canelo is one of the most hated-on fighters on these boards. I don't think Cubans hate on him any more than anyone else. It probably only seems that way now because his fight with Lara is drawing near. Speaking for myself, I would smile when I saw him in mainstream commercials prior to the Mayweather fight. I thought it very cool that a young Latino boxer was getting that kind of attention...that any young fighter was getting that kind of attention, frankly.

If Alvarez beats Landy, he would have defeated a quality opponent -- probably his best opponent to date, next to Floyd. How could anyone not give credit to that? But you have to tone down the "running" talk. It smacks of boxing adolescence. You may not like the way Lara approaches the game, but it is what it is. Some of the greatest boxers of all time were primarily "points fighters." Complaining they "didn't really come to fight" is like complaining they didn't let you win.

I hate the Ginger but I got him winning this fight. I don't see what the big fuzz is about Lara. His good when he fights at his pace but when they put the pressure on him he makes plenty of mistakes. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets dropped

yeah if landy wins he will have gained my respect and you're right you have to appreciate the attention he's getting or anybody its great for the sport.

That's how I feel about both fighters, nothing special. I just think that midway through the fight ginger is going to land a good punch that's going to drop Lara. And if Lara wants to make more $$ he better bring a little extra to this fight. This is his biggest chance to make a good name to the general public

Almost by definition, you have to be a good fighter to beat a good fighter. It's a little tough to accept when one's fighter is on the losing end, but the universe doesn't discriminate.

Although I didn't think Canelo would beat Mayweather, I hoped he would. The kid was poised to be a superstar. The writing was on the wall. Major companies were positioning themselves to use him as the face of boxing. It's been a long time since we truly had that in the United States. It would've been amazing for the sport. But now it's all gone. I don't think it's coming back. Fair or not, once Alvarez lost to Floyd, the image evaporated. Casual fans have to believe you're invincible.
