    Unhealthy thoughts

Not the way to think before getting into the ring with Martinez. Heaviest weight of his career, too many wars and his head has not been right since Pac Man thrashed him. And Cheato should have been castrated for what he did.

I bet my little ass points that win or lose Cotto will box the hell out of Serg. Serg. will know for sure he was in a war. Cotto will fight 20 x better then Jr did with his one round.
Cotto will box better then most of you think.
When Pac. fought Cotto and again when Cotto was already having trouble making weight, Pac was in prime and is a hell of a lot faster then Serg.
Serg. has not really faced anybody with the skill set like Cotto, nor a fighter that is a fighter that can cut off the ring like Cotto.
I mean besides Paul Williams who has Serg. Really fought with any skill. Jr, who the hell has he beat? He just has a chin and a punch if lands it. Pavlik, ? Owe he beat one fighter Taylor, and we all have seen how he crumbles with anybody with heart and a punch.
      Just saying!!!
I am picking Cotto. I think he is fresher and younger.

      War Cotto!!!

If Cotto beats Martinez. Floyd will be on his doorstep next Sunday with a $20M-$25M guarantee plus PPV upside to fight him for the middleweight title in Sept.

And your point is? It's ok for him to talk retirement but not Cotto? So, by Cotto talking retirement he has no heart for the fight? That's funny because for considering "reitrement" he went with a fight that offers him less money, sounds like his heart is in it just fine.

Cotto has a lot of money and business's he doesn't have to box anymore but he has 2 to 3 fights left before he retires which next pr parade will be his last fight depending on what happens June 7 but I have cotto retiring Martinez size doesn't win fights skill does and cotto will out box Martinez for 12 hard rounds

War Cotto anyway for having the balls to take this fight. Can't say it was smart though.
It was actually a pretty smart move. Getting the lion's share and bigger guarantee than he would get with fighting Canelo. This was simply a good business move with an added incentive, which is a chance at getting a belt at 160.
I was dying for Cotto-Canelo to get signed, but then when I read about the details of the purses, I realized Cotto is getting more fighting Martinez than fighting Canelo. And it's even likely that Martinez won't even be as physically taxing as Canelo, he's going to move and box and pot shot, while Canelo would move and box but throw brutal combinations.

                    ***8220;I was on crutches for a long time. Until December, I was walking on crutches. I was struggling. I used crutches since my surgery on October 31 until December 18. During all that time I was unable to lean on my right leg at all.***8221;

Like I said he's 40 and has had multiple injuries the past few years. It's much more likely a guy like him would talk about retirement. I never said Cotto had no heart, hell I never even mentioned his name in my post so why don't you count to 10 relax and take it easy. Beside I think it's not even debatable that Cotto is physically more fit to continue fighting.

As far as taking the fight that offered him less money take a look at Kev's post. He's getting a bigger share not facing another "star".

Miguel Cotto Admits: "My Time To Retire is Getting Close"

I agree. June 7 to be exact. Time for Cotto to take a nice snooze after Sergio takes him into water too deep.
