first fight would of been in a small venue and got bigger for the rematches.

boxing as a sport in the uk is small time with the small exceptions breaking through and thats mainly the fighter as an entity rather then the sport. in my lifetime the biggest fighter we have had was ricky hatton , not the greatest in skill but appealed to the average joe and was huge ( selling 20k plus defending wbu titles ). at that time we had joe calzaghe who is probably the greatest british fighter of all time but because he lacked in the hatton department defending his world title 18 times in small arenas or in manchester with ricky hatton on the undercard to shift the tickets.

andre ward is a very good draw at the gate for an american fighter. he's also a top billed HBO fighter. they really can't pay him more than two million to fight on regular HBO. for comparison, cotto earned roughly the same for his tune up against delvin rodriguez, and has to head to ppv to make more money than that.

he's not miguel cotto, manny pacquiao, juan marquez, but ward draws well compared to many of his American peers.

He doesnt draw very well for his standing though, does he? I'm a fan, but he just isnt an attractive fighter to watch because of his style. His inactivity, loss of momentum and bitterness dont make him very attractive either. I think Hearn is right as do many others. I just dont understand the whining about him saying it.

exactly and ward and people need to realise is that b side is bigger then the a side hed receive fighting anyone in the states and the reason is people pay to watch froch over here
