No rematch needed. He had his shot and lost. You need to take it if you want it. He didnt. Just because its a close fight, which it was not(closest i could score it 8-4...after 4th time watching it with no sound by myself),does not make you a winner. Floyd could have made this boring. Btw chino did not hit him cleanly enough, money's elbows and shoulders took the brunt of chino's work. Chino is a fighter, puncher, brawler but he is not a skilled accurate puncher/boxer.

You really need the sound off cuz? Like really...this bull**** started a few years ago when Pacquaio faced bradley "If you watch the fight with the sound off....." that's absolute nonsense. I'm sorry i'm really not trying to put you on the spot either but I have seen this entire too many times as a justification of how you score a fight. Judges don't have that privileged nor do people watching it live. If you honestly think Floyd won 8 rounds then so be it, I respect that. Also pardon my harshness as I stated you aren't the root of my ire with the whole sound off thing...it's just one of those situations "if i see one more person saying it" things.

Maidana is a stay-in-shape-for-a-paycheck-only-during-training-camps kind of fighter. Meaning, that he fattens up (albeit not as extremely as Hatton) in between fights. Like many, he is not naturally inclined to be into fitness and year-round dieting. And he is probably starting to see the incremental difficulty in shedding off pounds and tightening back up again.

If he is financially secure, it's smart thinking to go for retirement as he will probably start sliding soon and going on multiple losing streaks after a big fight like so many others before him. This was the high-point of his career and he trained like a beast. He won't get any better or be more motivated than that.

I want to see a rematch. Even though I thought Floyd won the first fight I was highly entertained. I wouldn't mind being entertained again. This gives Showtime more time to build up Khan, Thurman, Porter, or whoever is next up in May. If I was Espinoza this is the fight I would be pushing for. With Maidanas performance in the last fight, the proper promotion, press tour, etc. this fight could be as big as Cotto vs Mayweather

He's talking a lot about retirement in other articles..if he gets a rematch it'll be bad. He seems like the type to just go on about living regularly when he doesn't have a fight lined up. I think Maidana is one of those guys that as soon as he finishes a fight you need to have a contract for him to sign 14 days later just to keep him from letting himself go.

That's what I said in so many words.

Usually when I read quote from a fighting, that says, "... and I'm on a break before returning to the gym", usually it means, "I'm gonna sit on my ass and enjoy the 'foodie' eating tacos and whatever other delicacy is part of my countries culture."

I think it would be a mistake for him to retire now especially since he seems to be better than ever. There should be lucrative fights out there for him especially after that Floyd performance.

If Floyd bypasses him for the September date he should throw his hat in as a Pacquiao alternate if the JMM 5 fight falls through. Pac-Maidana would be fireworks from start to finish. He'll definitely get a lot more than 1.5M if he's strictly looking for a money fight.

maidana chased him after that fight for a rematch. khan didnt want it

Robert Garcia said Maidana told him he wants to retire if he doesn't get the Mayweather rematch.
