He's far from over rated. I think he's becoming more of a diva if he doesn't get his way IMO.I hate the long lay offs through out his career ( besides the surgery). He needs to be more active but there is no doubting how good he is.

Is Andre Ward the most overrated fighter currently?

yep. cleans out a division = overrated. the only argument that can be made him not being p4p top 5 is inactivity. skill wise he is up their with the best

iv been saying that for a while now. how can he be number 2 when there are guys like mayweather, pacquiao, marquez, rigondeaux who are technically better fighters.
i think he got rated that high for his achievements in the super six, which are over rated when you actually look at what he did in the super six. other than beating kessler and froch i dont see anything that stands out. even kessler and froch were not considered p4p fighters.
that isnt to say ward isnt a good fighter, because he is, he is in the lower half of the top 10 p4p in my opinion. but number 2??? rigondeaux must be laughing hard at that because he is technically miles ahead of ward in the skill department.

After the Super six he had the world at his feet.
He should have went for Bute, that would have been the last piece of the jigsaw at super middleweight then moved up to light heavyweight and took on Hopkins, Pascal, Dawson, Stevenson and Kovalev, then he could even stake a claim for the number one spot.
But he didn't, he has thrown away a very good career because of a Diva attitude.
And he could have taken on the likes of Groves and Golovkin when they have become more established at super middleweight and above.

So again, there are no opponents out there for him that will enable him to build an ATG resume among the 50 greatest fighters of all time.

YDKSAB
Bute was considered no 1 by some at that time, he would have been undisputed SM champ and truly cleaned the division with only the up and comers left.
Hopkins is a scalp for anybody, Pascal and Dawson maybe not great but beating them at light heavy beats anything on Ward's current resume. And defeats big punchers like Stevenson and Kovalev would have been major wins making him undisputed champ of two divisions.
And if you don't think that would have made him great then I repeat YDKSAB.
