[QUOTE=paulf;14679700]This argument about yesterday vs today, with yesterday's fighters not being big or strong enough to compete, is absolutely ridiculous.

Primo Carnera was 6'6 of solid muscle in his prime, and he was still ****ing garbage. Look how easily Haye moved up from 199lbs to compete with modern heavyweights.

      Skills pay the bills.[QUOTE]

Haye's HW career is nothing but a fraudulent scheme. He arguably lost to Valuev (daveys career best win btw), who is arguably worse than Primo Carnera.

It is ridiculous in its essence to think that 70s HWs could compete with todays HWs.

        Why is it ridiculous?

What has changed about the game since then? I know your fat ass didn't watch boxing before two years ago - so this answer should be good.

The sport has evolved dramatically. Sports science and nutrition wise. This is today a much faster game. Go to any pro gym and you will witness it.

How has sports science and nutrition affected the game dramatically?

What do they do better nowadays than they did back then? Are they fitter? no. Stronger? No. Better stamina? Hell no. Skills? No. Size? No. Fatter? Yes.

They are better today in every sense of the word. Only Foreman and Larry Holmes would do serious business at HW today (with proper nutrition and training, and not drinking a gallon of coca cola a day and not lifting weights which was the Ali style of the 70s). Fat Cola Boy.

That is possibly the dumbest statement I've ever heard. Their are many prime heavyweight fighter in history who could have easily dismantled the entire resume of the current champ.

Not at all... take your rose tainted glasses off and revise your statement.

Well you say they are better. I asked how?

This seems to be a current theme with you. Can you let me know what you think current #2 guy Povetkin does better than say a Ken Norton.

Break that down for me please.
