Yeah, I don't know all the ins and outs of the financials, just getting a sense based off of some obvious numbers that gathered in a spur of the moment calculation. I was thinking about corporate sponsorship and what not but I don't know how all that is structured. But I agree, in the sense of boxing as a segment of Showtime's overall service package being affected. I love the Showtime boxing but I watch Showtime for the shows too, they have a great lineup of premium quality entertainment.
These other guys will need to be carefully guided to the max to have anywhere near the impact that Floyd has had on PPV sales though. I see the prices continuing to rise to compensate for the decrease in gross purchases across the board but that isn't the way to go. I love boxing but even I won't pay $80 for a PPV right now. These execs need to come up with another plan and it's evident in the prevalence of these types of threads attributed to the fact that PPV's are "busts" when they are just under 1million buys. Just because you charge more for something, that doesn't raise the intrinsic value of the purchase.
