    Last I checked Thurman is #1 ranked WBC fighter. I think its a good match up stylistically for Floyd, it won't sell much but some fights are about defending your title.. or does Floyd get special treatment?
    He is just a sideshow attraction now, he doesn't care if he is stripped really and the belts don't matter in his case, he doesn't need them to legitimize him.

      $65,205,000 total from PPV sales alone (just guessing at the split between HD and SD).

      Sounds like a lot at first. $32,000,000 goes to Floyd's guarantee, leaving $33,205,000 for all the remaining fighters' purses and overhead. This does not count any of the cuts of the PPV sales either.

      That money goes fast. I obviously don't know what all the other costs are but when it is all said and done, I can see Showtime skimming the bottom of the barrel.
      Didn't they also, do the closed cable & movie theater thing for this fight???

              Yeah, I think they did and it made a couple mill too but there has to be a TON of minute factors that suck revenue off the top to put one of these things on. I mean, how much does the commentating crew alone make for the evening? Buffer? The refs? The ring girls? The venue fee? The lodging and travel costs? The doctor fees? The advertising fees? The myriad of other expenses that come with it? All I know is that 32 million to one source is always going to be the major factor for any one of his fights and I surmise that the magic number is somewhere around 1.1 to 1.3 million to make sufficient profits. Remember the Canelo fight did 2.2 or something. This is enough to cover 1 or 2 flops at under 1 mill but after that, you need another big fight, something over 1.2 to stay in the black.

              1.2 = good profits...just guessing.

              (2.2 + 800 +900)/3 = 1.3MM avg for all three fights. So right now, Floyd is on the break even line...he needs to do at least that on his next fight to not be a bust overall in Showtime's mind I'd imagine.

                Surprised that's he going through with the September date. Camp will have to start July, which means he will only get about 8 weeks rest. Given the nature of his fight and his age, I would have thought he'd need more time to recover.

                  Your post is what we like to call "Blind hate". He's Floyd's biggest supporter, what exactly did you expect him to say?

                    You dudes (some of y'all might be females) whine about everything.

                    Floyd fights 3 weeks ago: he cheated! He's a fraud! I'm never watching him again!

                    Floyd says he will return in September: no one cares! Showtime is losing money by the minute!

                    June,July,August, and September: 200+ pointless threads about Floyd from "non fans" about his clothes and how Ms.Jackson left him, etc etc

                    Give it a rest.
