Arum: Oscar realises his CEO was looting his company, we're going to do great things

The problem is Oscar in not a business man. People here don't want to admit it, but if it wasn't for Schaffer, Golden Boy Promotions would have gone the way of Calzaghe Promotions, Vargas Promotions, Square Ring Promotions......etc.
Promoting in boxing is a tough job, you have to be ruthless, sometimes. It's amazing that in a short time Golden Boy was able to surpass Dibella, Goosen, Main Events, Don King and begin to compete with the top dog in Arum. All of this is because of Richard Schaffer and his dealings with Al Haymon.
Oscar is just an emotional guy. He loves Arum today, but how long do you expect that to last? How long before they start feuding like they did in the past? How long before Oscar returns to rehab again?
People might not like the fact Haymon is uniting a lot of fighter under one banner, but at least with Haymon and Schaffer we're getting better cards, deep cards and great fighters fighting. When Arum was on top he never gave us anything like GBP has been doing. Remember all those crappy Latin Fury PPV's and so called World Cup of boxing crap?
Remember the past Manny Pacquiao PPV's?Comment

Second, Haymon and Shaefer are building a monopoly in boxing and that's not good. You don't want to turn this into the UFC where there's one entity and fighters have to joint or be left out. It's good for the fans and bad for the fighters.
We can have a medium, that would be to bring it back to the old days of boxing promotion. Exactly what Oscar is trying to do. Do business with Arum and other promoters because that's the way boxing SHOULD be.
Oscar is not just some emotional clown, he's a smart man, who knows the business very well and was wise enough to bring in a man like Schaefer to help run the business part of it.
If Schaefer and Haymon have their way, we will never see any cross promotional cards and that's just bad for boxing period.Comment

No.
Oscar has clearly said he is working it out with Schaeffer. If Oscar confided in Arum about his problems, it should have stayed private. If Oscar wanted it public he has had numerous opportunities to do so. Oscar is obviously trying to work things out with Richard, and Arum just made it awkward as **** by publicizing that.
It could lead to Schaeffer really leaving, which Arum wants, but at the same time I couldn't imagine Oscar appreciating that,,, 6 seconds after they just start getting along.Comment

You are selling Oscar way short here. He's not a business man, true but that doesn't mean he's ******. If you look at the history of boxers and how they have ended up, Oscar is at the top of the list of taking care of the money and investments he's made outside of boxing. Well him and Foreman if you count the grill biz...

And I also disagree in Haymon and Schaffer being bad for boxing. Look at the stack cards they have provided for us. Compare them to Top Rank.
Also look at the Canelo/Lara fight. Apparently Oscar is heavily involved in setting up that fight and it's card. Look at the crappy undercard they have so far?Comment

Schaefer has been going a good job with GB from outside so far from what I can tell. People seem to forget that it was this guy who went to Arum to try and makes happen with both stables. Remember Lucas Matthysse was suppose to fight Brandon Rios a few years back but TR declined? Remember when Mares and Nonito was suppose to fight but TR declined? I am pretty sure there are more fights I am missing but lets not pretend that he wasn't trying to make fights happen with TR and the bs Cold War. Arum is really the one who started it. He was constantly talking sh-t about GB even when they wanted to do business with them.Comment
