Who was better, Roger Mayweather or Floyd Sr?

I was browsing boxing videos on youtube and i came back across the 24-7 episode where Floyd is fighting his dad. So I watched it again. It was entertaining, at the end Floyd said the only Mayweathers that counted was him and Roger and that his dad wasnt ****. How true is it?

Roger was better offensively and Floyd was better defensively. Roger had the better career I guess although both were decent but pretty average IMO.


People today make a big deal about Chavez Sr knocking out Roger, which was indeed funny due to the "superman" punch, but he had just been KO'd in 1 round by Rocky Lockridge a year prior to that.

It's hard to say because Floyd Sr had his career derailed by the gun shot to the leg. He also had to deal with a bit more boxing politics than did Roger. Roger seemed to be around a better team to help his career as well.

They were both good though.

But if you question was more geared towards who was the better trainer, than I'd say Floyd Sr was more critical to Floyd Jr and the better trainer. He taught Floyd everything from scratch, including the crazy work ethic and discipline he exhibits today.
