Well, Floyd and his team are really smart. They still got paid.

I don't this has anything to do with fighting a heavy underdog. In fact if he fought Lara it would be worse i think. With this being 2014 live streams, and high costs of ppv and now the fights being available in the theaters, its hard to do over a mill. I think Pac, and Canelo 2 rematch if he wins will only bring big numbers.

That is the difference between me and you, you are all caught up in the Showtime vs HBO, GBP vs TR bs, I have my provocative posts at times, but can tone it down and speak with sense when need be.

I didn't expect either Pac-Bradley II and Mayweather-Maidana to top 1Mill so I am not surprised at all.
Pac was paid reasonable not overpaid like Floyd.

As the executive of showtime said before the fight. To break even with the amount of money Floyd is getting we need to get at least 1.5m ppv buys.

And why I care, coz this guy is using ppv numbers to road block a fight with Pac.

Now that they are pretty much even in numbers again.

Knowing pac's fight with Bradley was what the fans paid to see, unlike Floyd with a stacked undercard to help him out. This time Floyd should have no excuse regarding who is the other guy who can give solid numbers.

pacquiao literally sold the Bradley PPV on his own without any recognisable chief support, Mayweather has had the luxury of Garcia, Matthysse, Khan and Broner over at show time, which is a great strategy, hand it to GBP for putting on good shows but with TR the yare literally just selling Pacquiao on his own and he still does almost a million. That's impressive. And he is arguably the biggest name in the sport.

Taking that deal by itself, Showtime have taken a bath. I'm sure Espinoza would justify it by saying it was a pre-condition for an exclusive relationship with Haymon, important to have a flagship fighter etc etc.

It is interesting to see Floyd and Manny's numbers converge like this though. Pacquiao's drawing power hasn't been nearly as affected by the knockout as you might have thought.
Espinoza never said that Showtime needs 1.5m averages to justify Floyd's guarantee. That came from a few pseudo-journalists writing opinions as fact. Espinoza only said that he'd be happy with 1.5m or 2.5m for PPV buys with Canelo. So some quack journalists took that tidbit and ran with it and back, as if he meant that's the rule for each PPV. When that is not what he meant.

The 1.5 million cut off figure came from a random Ring website article. No source was named. No showtime executive has said that.

Fraud Jr. you know, Pacquiao is the biggest paycheck of your career and everyone else involved?
"Yeah but I'll take another opponent who can barely give us buys, that makes more sense to me".

That's without the most expensive undercard ever^

With the exception of Canelo, Floyd's supposed drawing power and results have not justified his $32 mil guarantees. It will be interesting to see how SHOW responds to this. The Canelo fight was announced a very short while after the Guerrero bomb.

I'm sure they will try to push Floyd to fight a live dog who will bring in buys. Wouldn't be surprised if Floyd goes on another 'vacation' if they try to force him to fight someone he doesn't want to (cough*Manny).

<1,000,000 PPV buys for a Mayweather fight is a flop.
Showtime has got to do something big to recoup that $250 million they donated to Floyd.
IF these PPV figures are accurate, there's no reason for me to believe Mayweather/Maidana 2 will break 1 million PPV buys either.
