I've been visiting NSB regularly for years and there's certainly something unusual about the Maidana vs Mayweather. The busy traffic I was expecting was not there. High profile fights usually require logging in at NSB. This time it was like a normal day. That's why this fight got way less than 800K, imho.Comment

its so funny to me to see this and even Arum talking about the dissapointing Pac-Bradley numbers. Everyone has become so jaded that they act like 850,000 buys is garbage now? Those use to be super mega numbers. I remember one time that people thought you had star status if you could do like 450. Now its either a mil or bust.
At the end of the day, I could care less either way. Its not going in my pocket. I just want to see good fights. F the numbersComment

I understand that you have different standards for Mayweather than you do Pacquiao, but Jesus Christ.Comment

Stuff like this makes me laugh. Floyd - Canelo PPV numbers were released in less than 4 days and that was the biggest money fight in boxing history. Chavez-Martinez was released in 5 days. This is the digital age, everything is done by computers, it isnt some guy counting 1 by 1. Its been 8 days and they certainly know where its atComment

You're right, he's on a publically stated 20 million guarantee that mysteriously always seems to ACTUALLY come out to be 6 million....but 40 million was an insult doe.Comment

You guys do know Rick Glaser is some 50 year old troll who lives with his mother and years ago worked with the Feds for that Top Rank raid. Take his info with a grain of salt. I can't even believe anyone would even quote anything he says. A few weeks ago he was passing out phone numbers of promoters like Lou DiBella on Twitter and nearly got arrested for extortion because he demanded money from them in order to stop.

In and of itself, 800k buys is huge. I think the difference here is Espinoza's comments that Showtime need 1.5m averages to justify Floyd's guarantee.
Taking that deal by itself, Showtime have taken a bath. I'm sure Espinoza would justify it by saying it was a pre-condition for an exclusive relationship with Haymon, important to have a flagship fighter etc etc.
It is interesting to see Floyd and Manny's numbers converge like this though. Pacquiao's drawing power hasn't been nearly as affected by the knockout as you might have thought.Comment
