It's a part of boxing that interests me. Some people are very interested in how movies perform at the box office every week. There are websites like boxofficemojo.com that track all movies in the U.S. and how they perform financially every single day and people post on those forums in droves. Me personally, I like numbers, I majored in accounting in college. We get PPV numbers maybe 5 times a year. It's not that big of a deal to talk about it.

Nah those numbers were out long ago.Originally posted by PigeonsQuote:

Why would 800K for that fight be a disappointment? IMO that's about the best possible number you could hope for in that scenario. The Marquez #s are always high because there's intrigue there. He and Pac have a History of great, competitive, action-packed fights with razor-thin decisions. The first Bradley fight was a dud that everyone in the world with the exception of 2 judges saw as a decisive and one-sided Pacquiao win.
No one was really clamoring for a rematch. Plus the undercard was pathetic. If Arum really was expecting 1 mil+ for that he was clearly sorely misguided.
But he seems intent on going back to Macau for the massive site fees (He reportedly got $8 mil for the Rios fight) and now the Chinese PPV. So I assume he won't bother getting a better overall card which is a shame.
And OP- where are the May-Maidana buys figures? 750-800K has been the reported # for Pac-Bradley II since about 5 days after the fight. But we haven't heard a peep about Floyd-Chino...800k Is not a flop. You don't know what you're talking about.
800k would be a humongous success in the UFC and at 75 dollars is 65 Million dollars in revenue.
65 Million dollars generated in PPV Revenue alone for 2 guys fighting in the ring for 1 hour is not a ****ing flop.
Pacquiao sold that fight by himself. Bradley has no fans, and there was no undercard. I didn't even buy it because the undercard was shit and I'm a big Pacquiao fan who always buys his fights.Something smells fishy.HBO PPV did not put out a formal release of the numbers like it often does, but it confirmed to ESPN.com that Arum's disclosure was on the mark. The fight generated approximately $49 million in gross pay-per-view revenue.Comment

What's fishy about it? A couple of days-a week after the fight Kevin Iole of Yahoo and Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated had stories/tweets about their sources telling them the fight did 775-800K buys. Arum just came out and said the fight did 750-800K. HBO confirms this figure.
If HBO had said 'no comment' or denied it, then it would be fishy. They confirmed it, just didn't go out and do a formal publicity thing. Maybe like Arum, they were inexplicably expecting 1 million+ buys for a rematch of a dud, one-sided fight with a piss poor undercard.
Either way, will be interesting to see if Apollo Creed vs Argentine Rocky hit the magical 1.5 mil buy rate SHOW needs to justify paying Floyd $32 mil guaranteed. From my POV, there was 0 hype for that one. Floyd had to stoop to posting ******** pics on facebook to trump up interest
