Thanks to Arum and De La Hoya, things are about to change in Boxing, and those that refuse to change with them will be history.

If you recall, Schaefer was so desperate in making the Cotto vs Alvarez fight. That's probably the fight that would lift them up from the financial mess they're in.
Hoya needs to get rid of Schaefer. He lacks balls in making fair deals with Mayweather.

The sooner the better. Schaefer is putting all his balls in one unprofitable Mayweather basket. Showtime subscribers are screwed. Non PPV fights are getting rarer and rarer. Espinoza should be fired as well. The guy is not attracting subscribers. GBP got lots of fighters already built up by HBO, yet fans don't see them fight.

True fans know how many great match ups that could be made that would result in epic fights.
Schaefer got GBP banned from HBO, let's remember that.

He tried to wear the big boy pants like Arum did, but Schaefer ain't Arum, as much as he tries to be...

"According to HBO sources, the company had grown tired of demands from Schaefer for specific dates and matchups and constant threats to take fighters to Showtime if he did not get his way."

If DLH wants back on HBO, then maybe he feels like he's got to step in and take back his company.

If Schaefer and Haymon aren't on board (and they're not going to be), then the Cold War isn't ending, despite Oscar's good intentions.

It just means he will bring Canelo and Mares to HBO, while Schaefer splinters away with all the Haymon fighters.

You do have to wonder how a Schaefer/Haymon entity on Showtime will be viewed from a PR perspective, though. They're going to be HATED if they're seen to have impeded the end of the Cold War, and been sneaking behind Oscar's back all the time he was in rehab (that will be the perception even it isn't true).
