can you imagine; the final detail in making a PAC-Floyd fight finally happening comes down to gloves? i can so see itComment

That's the stock excuse when someone gets caught talking about boxing when they don't know ****. Yea, we'll fight over it.Comment

Don't think they (Team Maidana) have the leverage and the smarts to do it, especially when GBP and Haymon (who would ordinarily back one of their fighters) are loyal first and foremost to Floyd. They could theoretically put pressure through media/fans for them to get the gloves they want but we all know that what Floyd wants, Floyd gets.
Such a b*tch move, either way.
If it doesn't matter at all, why is Floyd so wigged out? I mean, seriously. Ray Leonard had to walk through the firepower of Hearns, and yet TBE has to erode one of the big strengths of an underdog like Maidana.
Let the dude fight with the gloves that he is comfortable with, not the one you are. All these things matter - once you submit to the other guy's choice of gloves, you have already given away an advantage. Do you think Mayweather would go into a fight with gloves he wasn't comfortable with?
To go full circle and answer the question - no. They should tell everyone that this fight isn't get made cos Floyd won't allow them to use legal gloves. But this is boxing - they will get paid off, and then cry later about the gloves.
When Pacquaio fought Margarito, they should've been using 10 oz gloves, but instead they used 8 oz gloves, because that's what Pacquaio wanted. And Margarito now has his eye ****ed up. Maybe it would've gotten ****ed up regardless the way he was taking punches, but who knows? There's a chance he would still have his eyes if they were using 10 oz.Comment

I think that would be a Winky Wright type move. Why sabotage your chance at getting another $3-4million? Another Floyd fight would further set Maidana's post career life financially. If Floyd is giving you the rematch, just take, it'll be more PPV's from people who did not buy the first fight but regret it and would buy the rematch. Besides, how many fighters have gotten a rematch at Floyd? Castillo, that's it. Maidana would be in good company as one of only two fighters that ever gave Floyd such a tough fight that a rematch happened.
He has a better chance at asking for a slightly higher guarantee and getting it.Comment

Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana think the gloves matter.
Esteemed online posters DempseyRolling and Fetta think the gloves don't matter.
Anyone see a problem here?Comment

He never had Floyd in trouble at all
I know you really wanted him to lose and find any reason to discredit the win but i dont think the gloves would have made differenceLast edited by Fetta; 05-05-2014, 05:48 PM.Comment

No, I think these two anonymous guys on the internet know more than Chino that wanted to use his own gloves, and most def. know better than Floyd that was willing to throw away 35 million dollars just to avoid getting KTFO.Comment
