Should Maidana accept a rematch without MX gloves?

Don't think they (Team Maidana) have the leverage and the smarts to do it, especially when GBP and Haymon (who would ordinarily back one of their fighters) are loyal first and foremost to Floyd. They could theoretically put pressure through media/fans for them to get the gloves they want but we all know that what Floyd wants, Floyd gets.

If it doesn't matter at all, why is Floyd so wigged out? I mean, seriously. Ray Leonard had to walk through the firepower of Hearns, and yet TBE has to erode one of the big strengths of an underdog like Maidana.

Let the dude fight with the gloves that he is comfortable with, not the one you are. All these things matter - once you submit to the other guy's choice of gloves, you have already given away an advantage. Do you think Mayweather would go into a fight with gloves he wasn't comfortable with?

To go full circle and answer the question - no. They should tell everyone that this fight isn't get made cos Floyd won't allow them to use legal gloves. But this is boxing - they will get paid off, and then cry later about the gloves.

I'm calling you on that bit of bull****. I've used and have been hit with both types. The KO likelihood is the same, and science backs that. The lower padding only increases the annoying stuff like cuts, chance of getting in the eye socket, etc. Too much ignorance being perpetuated around here.

Yes i do but like i said i wasnt there to try on gloves so who knows what issue was. I agree the others should have been used but in the end i still dont think gloves would have made difference. Maidana lost fight cause he gassed 2nd half of fight not because Floyd weathered a major storm and was hurt or even remotely hurt

That could be true for the first pair, but not the 9 other STOCK gloves. All Everlast MX and Cleto Reyes rejected. In other words, Maidana was not allowed to fight with punchers gloves. No horse hair, only foam.

If the payday is right then I'm sure Maidana will accept the rematch at all costs. Even if he loses again in a close fight his stock doesn't really drop much and he can then go back and maybe fight another big fighter.

on a side note.. in the video of Floyd examining the gloves you can tell there was no padding on the knuckle like the gloves were a year or so old and had been used on a heavybag 5 days a week.. they would have done some severe damage and I'm not surprised they refused to fight if Maidana planned on using them..

In the next fight I could see Floyd allowing Reyes or something but those gloves looked medieval
