Some serious observations about the Glove fiasco

Several questions exist that were not addressed during that whole scene:

#1 - Was Garcia aware of the diminished padding in the gloves Maidana was originally going to wear (The one's rejected by the NSAC and Team TMT)
If he was then that is incredibly suspect -- any trainer that's been in the game for as long as he has should have noticed that there was a padding discrepancy right away without an outsider bringing it to his attention ......... Again extremely suspect!

This is a question that should have been asked of Garcia that night, by both the Commission and TMT.

And is the real reason Team Maidana, is raising hell about being allowed to use their magic gloves is because they've used thin gloves before in ignorance. Because here something that Garcia cannot get away from -- If he cannot tell that those gloves were thin in the knuckle on May 3rd, then he most likely allowed the use of thinned gloves before, because he doesn't know any better.

And that situation would demand that Garcia be thoroughly informed and trained about the proper thickness of Pro. boxing gloves going forward.

#2 - All this talk about allowing Maidana to wear his gloves of choice is a valid one -- But they must have the recommended amount of padding. He cannot have his special gloves with diminished padding and think that everyone should go along with that BS.

#3 - TMT has to learn to accept the decisions of the NSAC and also accept that just because TMT is the A-side, doesn't mean that they can control every aspect of the event. And it doesn't mean that they have the final say in all matters.

Now point\question number one, doesn't infer guilt, nor does it imply that Garcia knowingly and was willingly allowing the use of thinned gloves.

But it does suggest that if he doesn't know the difference, then now is the time to learn.

haven't followed the gloves issue in detail but from what i've read i thought the blue one was exactly the same in padding as the red one which was approved by the NSAC.

The original gloves were approved by the Commission though i Thought. The Mayweather camp just didnt approve. I could be wrong but I thought thats what I read.

I mean, if Garcia was aware that those original gloves were defective, why would he just stand there and present the gloves in front of the commission, Floyd's team, and the media? So this leads me to believe that there was really nothing wrong with the gloves or that Garcia was oblivious to the fact they had faulty gloves which should reflect on Everlast more than anything. Also, the second MX pair were also rejected by Floyd's team even after the commission gave them the green light.

There was NOTHING wrong with Maidanas glove, none of them. Not the custom blue ones made by Everlast, not the red ones Mayweathers own fighters use themselves yet didnt let Maidana fight with.
The Everlast representative was there, looking pretty pissed I must say, and said the blue gloves had the exact same padding as original red MX.
Just to please TMT, they asked Maidana to use the original packed red MX, but even THAT wasnt enough. They basically ended up forcing him to use the sht they wanted, huge sparring gloves that put Maidana in a serious disadvantage that has no place in a civilized era of sporting.
And you have the balls to come here with this BS about Maidana's gloves having no padding?
          Man, go fk yourself.

the original gloves were EXACTLY the same as the others, the commission first approved them but then floyd *****ed and the commission in the end backed him and said change the gloves, its because floyd is the star, it was so ******, they said ok to the other 3 gloves but not the 4th which were the same but light blue

floyd then refused to let him wear it and made him wear extra padded ones, the hilarious part is floyds own fighters use the same gloves as chino

so glad he lost the fight still in the views of the fans, his legacy is tarnished, mark my words

all of his ducks and the fact he has had two gifts now will be used against him always

Gloves come directly from everlast in the original packaging. Everlast wouldn't rrisk their reputation on Marcos who's gloves were going to be examined

The other gloves were approved so i didnt see the problem,. It all came down to floyd being afraid to face marcos inthose gloves. It was a joke

There is nothing wrong with the glove. Floyd just wanted maidana to have as much padding as his own gloves. Floyd has brittle hands and wants every opponent to have gloves for brittle hands.

                  In replaying the scene ....

That's what's confusing, because in the video Floyd Sr. and Jr. raised concern about the thinness of the first pair of gloves, then the Commission Rep. was called in to look at them. And that's when the first pair was rejected by NSAC but the other blue gloves seemingly were approved.

Then TMT stated that they didn't want any of the blue gloves to be approved because if one was faulty, then all are faulty (poor logic) and that's how the red gloves became the debate.

The whole scene was ridiculous on several levels. But my point was and is, if Garcia could tell whether the first pair were thin in the knuckle.

And if the NSAC is bending over for TMT, then that should not be allowed.

                    ^^^This is exactly correct.

At the end of the day TMT did not want Maidana to wear any of the "punchers" type gloves (Everlast MX or Cleto Reyes). They wanted to sapp Maidana's punching power by having him wear heavily padded "pillows" which in the end they were successful. Maidana ended up having to wear the Everlast powerlock model designed with heavy padding and hand protection in mind.
