  • Floyd Is All Image Control; Maidana KO's Floyd In Rematch If Floyd Has The Ballz

Floyd thinks its that simple, he'll move and stay off the ropes, box and tie up. If it was that easy why didn't Floyd stick to that plan all night? And don't be so naive to believe Maidana doesn't make adjustments too. He had Fliyds number, a great plan, and he beat hell out of Floyd. Floyd talks the talk, but he won't be so quick to grab a rematch with Maidana. If Floyd thought he won the fight, then why extend a rematch; Floyd gives no rematches unless he knows he lost... Ie: Castillo fight.

    • Im thinking it's a couple of things. First I think that these back to back fights are taking a toll on him. Second I think the rough house tactics of Maidana was a lot for him to adjust to like he normally does. Third this Ms Jackson thing messed with his head a lil. Maidana made it into a street fight/brawl. I'm not counting him out yet but age could be a factor at this stage.

Thinking too much, didnt floyd make thw crucial adjustment around the 5th or 6th that changed the complexion of the fight? In Jones / Tarver 1 what adjustments did Roy make ? He just grinded out the victory - no adjustments - see slippage equates to not being able to adjust to your opponent we all slow down, but can you adjust to YOUR new tempo and still win? Floyd and benard still can, so props ti them
Good posting. I could see Maidana landing a big punch that hurts Mayweather. Tarver landed an absolute bomb but it's clear he had really studied Roy. And based on Saturday, I'd say Maidana and co. did their homework as well.

As far as crucial adjustments, Roy definitely made some in Tarver I. That was quite a chess match, actually. In the middle rounds, Jones began circling (instead of lingering on the ropes) and countering with lead rights to the midsection. But his old legs couldn't sustain it and he found himself on the ropes again.

Another factor that would make a rematch suck would be the referee. While I agree that Tony Weeks did a **** job this weekend, I think any referee in a rematch would be too conscious of Floyd's complaints and heavily favor him in the rematch.

Maidana can't beat Mayweather unless he's allowed to fight his fight and I can't see any referee allowing him to do that in a rematch when Floyd complained so much about it already.
It does seem like if there were to be a rematch it would be highly distorted to favour Mayweather before the first bell rings, and then maybe even more so during the fight. A ref that basically allows Floyd his standard game of fouls, while Maidana would likely be highly penalised for his infractions seems like it would be a given now. Hell, they'll probably call back Cortez just for this. I don't doubt he'd love to insert himself into it, give Floyd a helping hand.

It has been interesting; the views on Maidanas fouling for this fight, particularly as he's not actually much of a dirty fighter, whereas Floyd has literally made a career of foul filled fights and illegal tactics which he has gotten away with so long, he thinks the rules genuinely don't apply to him anymore. This was a foul filled fight, but to lay the blame at Maidana is to overlooked a guy that has gotten away with more illegal tactics than most for his whole career. It's like accusing a fighter of being rough and unfair with Bhop. They've gotten away with it so long that it's become partof their routine, so when someone does it back to them, it's not allowed?

Pac beat: Cotto, De La Hoya, and Hatton more impressively than Floyd but Marquez has shown that if you counter punch and move you can really take Pac out his game.

It would be a great fight that EVERYBODY wants to see. But I still see Floyd winning 8-4

I had friends who went and they said it was packed. At one point one of the walls after the fight of the MGM fell and sounded like a gun shot. There was a stampede and a bunch of people had been rushed to the hospital.

Now he beat Castillo and won the second fight! Everybody was used to Floyd blowing people out and Jose made it really competitive so the naysayers gave Castillo the edge! What happened their very next fight? Exactly!

Maidana did good like Oscar, and Cotto did now people are jocking him as well. Floyd will fight Maidana like he did the second half of the fight and win an easy decision. Maidana fought hard, but in the rematch he gets shut out just like Devon did to him.

Yeah, he'll be recognised as one of the very best to ever do it down the track. I reckon give it another thirty years and people will look at him as a top tenner, and likely the most skilled fighter to ever do it. Once people are looking back on his career without all the bull**** surrounding him, and just seeing his career as a series of fights, they'll recognise is greatness.

His one and only career flaw.....another great for a rival. Jones didn't have one either I guess, but he had two fighters better than anyone Floyd has fought.

porter kind of reminds me of pryor..and i loved pryor.
