After the first 5 rounds I had it 3-2 Maidana. The last 7 rounds I had it 6-1 Mayweather. 116-112 Mayweather.
Almost the same as my scorecard. Round 8 was a toss-up round and even though Floyd did enough and i thought he won that round, I still gave that round to Maidana. I have the same exact scorecard for the first five rounds, 3-2 Maidana.
Maidana: 1, 4, 5
Floyd: 2, 3
Last seven rounds
Floyd: 6, 7, 9, 10, 12
Maidana: 8, 11
7-5, Floyd. I'd be fine with an 8-4 scorecard, but the judge who scored it 9-3 for Floyd should never judge a fight ever again.
I back off my original draw score and sat.. Maidana won the fight.
Mayweather spin cycle machine was in effect. Mind warping stuff.I rewatched that **** once regular and a third time with no sound.. rewinding the tape round by round.. a few comments.
Maidana's jab kept Floyd honest in the middle of the ring. It was impressive.. fast.. and disrupting
Maidana did alot of good work with one hand free and on the ropes with awkward angled punches.
two ways Maidana could have done better: lead straight right hand.. and use of his puncher's gloves of course.
having said that.. he was making Mayweather MISS with his supposed C - defensive skills. His defense, pushing the fight...The jab coupled with his clinch/rope work was winning ROUNDS for Chino..
Shostats started out more accurate but it was not correct in the last half of the fight. The 11th and 12th round especially. Thats that spin cycle.. they are protecting their investment I get it.. but I sat and counted punches in the championship rounds and Maidana landed more than advertised.. and made Floyd miss more than advertised. Also Chino's punches were more authoritative if not as pretty. Problem is Shostats wasnt crediting all of Maidana's one hand free and in the clinch work.
I gave Maidana 5 of the first 6 rounds.. the 8th... and the 12th. 115-113 Maidana. And the 11th could easily be Maidana's as well. Which would make it 116-112
so proud of Chino. Really.. Floyd tried to rig the fight with the glove bs and Chino won the damn fight anyway.
Very good analysis,
I rewatched it and posted in a thread that got deleted.
I had it initially for Floyd by 1 or 2 points on second viewing had it a draw and on the third watched it on mute gave Maidana the edge by 1.
It's a very close fight like I said in the previous thread, Mayweather missed a lot and punches I thought landed actually landed on the gloves.
The body work Maidana did was exceptional and was part of the reason why he was able to hit Floyd to the head other than his awkward punching style.
Actually it does, you're disappointed because Floyd didn't have an easy time.
The rematch should generate bigger numbers but if the numbers of this PPV isn't good then I have a good feeling Khan will be next.
