You have to see things from their point of view. It would have unsettled them to continuously argue about the matter. I doubt Mayweather was there, probably just had his representatives antagonise them, so they probably just said fuck it when they realised they were the only ones being distracted.

Imagine if Floyd did what they did with the change in having his opponent use higher ounce gloves? He'd get crucified on the forum.
At least the gloves were still 8 oz gloves. And 8 oz gloves, no matter the brand, is no joke. They hurt and aren't pillows, as some try to point out. And that's not to say that there are differences between 8 oz brands and styles.
Did you see sugar Ray Leonard threatening to cancel the fight less than 24 hrs from the fight if hagler didn't agree to only 12 rounds,,,
There is a huge difference, had it been in the agreed upon fight contract, then this would have been a nonissue
Floyd did a punk move by threatening to cancel the show.. What star fighter from the 80s ever did that...Comment

Whoever it was asking the question absolutely owned Mayweather with his questioning. I think it was Kevin Iole. If he had a problem with the gloves, why not put that in the contract?
Mayweather as usual ducked the question and started picking on some guy in the crowd because he was Argentinian. Typical deflection from Floyd.
But maybe Floyd wasn't familiar with the difference in glove padding himself? The gloves themselves have only been around since 2008 I believe.Comment

That was as convincing as when he explained why a catchweight was now justified for the Canelo fight, months after he crapped on Pacquaio for having one against Cotto.Comment

Contractually agreed upon on the basis that Hagler get the lion's share of the purse. Not remotely the same as forcing unreasonable conditions on your opponent the day of the fight.Comment

Floyd not being able to get what he wanted woulve ended in cancellation most likely than not...everyone should know by now how this punkass b1tch operatesComment

Mayweather should be thankful for boxing because with his level of intellect he'd be flipping burgers for a living LOL. His arguments are completely illogical and are irrelevant to the claims he makes.
First he says that De La Hoya got the choose the gloves...Ummmm they fought at 154 pounds and 10 oz. gloves are generally used at that weight. De La Hoya didn't tell him which brand to wear or anything...they both wore the same size gloves.
Ironically, Mayweather is complaining about 10 oz. gloves but was complaining about Maidana wearing gloves with less padding in the knuckle area lol.
Maidana was still wearing 8 oz. gloves just the weight is not focused as much in the knuckle area.
I say the NSAC should decide if the gloves are permitted if they permitted them for Broner why not for Mayweather.
But my main issue with Mayweather is that he wouldn't even let Maidana wear Cleto Reyes gloves LOL. The "Pacquiao gloves." From watching Mayweather clinch, use forearms and hang on the ropes most of the fight...he's lucky Maidana had on the Everlast Pillow XP edition lol.Comment

No way would Floyd cancel the show, so why agree to switch gloves, and then complain about the gloves after you lose.. Should have never switched gloves or got 2 million for a switch..
But to agree with switching gloves, and then complain later is ******Comment

Yeah but all of that was agreed to beforehand in the fight contract..

It's just more annoying that if it's done at the last minute. But man, it could've been worse. At least it was still 8 oz. He could've had him wear 10 oz gloves or something. That happens quite a bit.Comment
