He's the B-side. Its unfair but its just the way boxing works. The commission isn't going to overrule a guy that brings millions of dollars to them. He has no say on this issue.

Maidana went about this the right way. Just show up, fight and try to pull out the win.

Boxing isn't fair. Canelo is going to be next. You already see the Lara fight is at 155 because he can't make the weight anymore.

Yeah, but Floyd had no leverage but canceling the fight... The fight was already made and 24 hrs away... It sucks being the b-side for fight negotiations but the fight was already signed, and the gloves weren't in the contract. Had this issued arise a few weeks out from fight night, then Maidana would have to cave, but less than 24 hrs there was no time for Floyd to back out... And no way would Floyd cancel the show over commission approved gloves he didn't want his opponent to wear... That would be a disaster for Floyd and the sport of boxing in general...

Are the people on this site dense? It doesn't matter whether Oscar stipulated what gloves Mayweather would have to wear ahead of time; the fact of the matter is Mayweather didn't have the gloves of his choosing, but was still able to emerge victorious.

I don't agree with either antic to be truthful, but it is what it is.

A fighter in the 80's like Sugar Ray Leonard. The guy that insisted that the Hagler fight be 12 rounds instead of 15 in a bigger ring with 12 ounce gloves?

This **** has always gone on in boxing.

My only point is that maidana's camp made the wrong move by caving in... Or at least make Floyd pay you an extra 2 million for changing gloves... No way was Floyd gonna cancel the show on the eve of fight night..

Imagine if Floyd did what they did with the change in having his opponent use higher ounce gloves? He'd get crucified on the forum.

At least the gloves were still 8 oz gloves. And 8 oz gloves, no matter the brand, is no joke. They hurt and aren't pillows, as some try to point out. And that's not to say that there are differences between 8 oz brands and styles.

Whoever it was asking the question absolutely owned Mayweather with his questioning. I think it was Kevin Iole. If he had a problem with the gloves, why not put that in the contract?

Mayweather as usual ducked the question and started picking on some guy in the crowd because he was Argentinian. Typical deflection from Floyd.
