    • I thought this fight was a draw. Watching it live, no one really had the upper hand. I don't know how anyone can give Floyd 9 rounds. He was having a hard time timing Maidana...I don't know if Maidana is really that awkward or if Mayweather is finally showing signs of slowing down...maybe it was a combination of both...Either way Floyd didn't look very good

      • Not a robbery, but the wrong man won.

        I called Maidana to win this fight, and it played out pretty much exactly as I thought it did.

        Maidana controlled the tempo of this fight. The punch stats were absolutely insane. I saw Floyd missing a whole lot tonight, and it had nothing to do with "father time". It had to do with the fact that Maidana doesn't get the credit he deserves for making many improvements under Robert Garcia. The fact of the matter is this;

        Floyd Mayweather was not comfortable with this fight in the least bit. Regardless of where this fight was, on the ropes or in the center of the ring Maidana was clearly the more comfortable fighter. Body shots don't seem to be a factor in scoring fights and that's really terrible for the sport. I was very impressed with Maidanas jab in the ring, and his ability to spoil Floyds lazer straight rights.

        I do give Mayweather a lot of props for this fight, he is a lot tougher then people make him out to be.

        I also don't agree with the insane pacquiao fans in here flaunting Maidanas achievement as if it gives Manny some sort of victory over Floyd. I believe Manny losses to Floyd and by a significant number on the score cards. I also believe Manny gets KO'd by Maidana.

        Floyd will most likely run away from a rematch with Maidana. If they do fight again, I believe Floyd losses by a wide margin. I wonder what mayweathers face would look like if Maidana was allowed to use the punchers gloves.

        Mayweather is not slowing down, he is at the peak of his game in strength, timing and intellect. Maidana is just the wrong guy for both Mayweather and Pacquiao. War Chino Maidana.

I was thinking 156 or so. Floyd in there battling someone with two weight classes on them tonight and other nights. This time, he came in there ready to knock his head of. Yes, it did take longer than usual for Floyd to figure our Marcos, but the fact is, he did. Floyd's normal +/- on his fights is that he hits them 24% more of the time. He did 25% tonight. Another day at the office for him. He had to use defense to duck and weave and very few overhand rights really landed on Floyd, Floyd was never in danger of losing his composure. Just because Floyd didn't blow him out doesn't make Floyd beatable now. Maidana made it an ugly fight, he was supposed to but looking at how much more Floyd landed the cleaner shots, this was, once again, Floyd's night. One thing I didn't like was how Floyd kept letting him into the ropes, hoping he'd tire himself out. That didn't happen to the effect that the Floyd camp thought it would. Floyd sat on his punches more but it's clear he couldn't hurt Marcos with face shots but after the 100 punches round one, he only threw 758 for the other 11 so maybe Floyd was giving him something to think about. I don't go around, hoping and waiting for Floyd to take an L so I see this as a great day for him. Closer than what I hoped but hey, style makes fights and Chico was trying to give Floyd a concussion with those shots he was throwing.
          Agree with alot of this. I also think Floyd was assuming Maidana would tire big time later down the stretch. But Maidana's conditioning was better this time and despite the huge water weight.

            Power punches tells the story. Floyd got beat up.

            Dang Floyd got beaten up by a slow footed predictable guy no disrespect to Chino, but an offensive fast boxer will kill Floyd.
            Wow. It's like you keep signing your own petition with the same name. If you really believe that Maidana 'won' I doubt that you would feel the need to keep saying it over and over again. Being the same person saying the same thing over and over again does not make for consensus. This fight wasn't close and everyone knows it. Maidana was allowed to get away with every dirty thing he could come up with and he still lost. And it wasn't close at all. In a fight where is opponent is allowed to fight dirty without being penalized Mayweather can be made to look bad but you still can't beat him.

              Wow. You're delusional and very easy to impress. You're impressed by a jab that wasn't landing? You wonder what Mayweather's face would look like if the guy who was missing wildly with most of his shots had on different gloves? Excuses excuses... If Floyd was uncomfortable it was because the referee was allowing Maidana to fight dirty the entire fight. This fight was not close at all...

              • On another note, Showtime did a horrible job commentating this fight. I remember them talking about Mayweather landing all these big shots and they show the replay and Maidana dodged every single punch. It was kinda embarrassing for Showtime. I thought it was funny how Al Bernstein was constantly saying this was just someone's interpretation of how many punches were landed... They were showing more bias than HBO

                • Tedy Atlas and I have always agreed that Floyd is gonna get himself robbed one day because at times he's too defensive. And to take it a step further, he's too dependant on having judges that know what the hell they're watching. Never mind the predictable ******ation going on here tonight. Chino didn't win. And personally, I don't even think it was a "close" fight. It was competitive. It was grueling. But I'd love to sit down with anybody objective and have them show me more than 3-4 rounds that Chino won. That said, Floyd is gonna get in there one night let someone out work him and get a decision because two of the three judges don't see all the good work he's doing defensively. The Phillip N'dou fight comes to mind. There was a moment in that fight were N'dou had Floyd pinned against the ropes and fired at least 30 punches at Floyd. He missed every last one of them. But, Floyd never threw back. And IMO, the ref could have easily stopped the fight. It would have been controversal. But IMO it wouldn't have been a "robbery" because you can't let a guy throw 30-40 punches in a row and never throw back.

                  Either way, the only thing concerning to me tonight as a Floyd fan is that he wad never able to hurt Chino. I think a lot of it had to do with Chino swamping Floyd and never letting him get comfortable enough to sit down on his punches. That and I think the body work Chinook invested in early kinda zapped Floyd. Because to me, Floyd was noticably a lil gassed in the late rounds.
