Which heavyweight challenger was worse?

Pianeta had an excellent strategy but his skills didn't follow it. I took him eventhough he's more skilled than Leapai. Leapai has simply more punching power and to beat Klitschko you need punching power.
Wach is an enigma. We know he's not a top 10 contender but I doubt Briggs would easily beat him ( by the way Wach-Briggs would be an excellent fight). He has an iron chin and that's it.Comment

he also beat travis walker which is hard to believe. not that walker is much either but he is a guy with good pop as arreola found outComment

leapai beat boytsov in an eliminator but boytsov didn't beat anyone & was not a legit #1 contender. leapai got his #9 WBO ranking beating a guy who was 13-5-1 for the vacant WBO asia pacific & oriental titles which were vacated buy monte barrett or shane Cameron. he lost to yan kulikov 12-2, banden qui 2-2, colin Wilson 33-23 & kingpin. he got a gift vs travis walker too. he had wins over owen beck & the dingaling man. the boytsov fight was suppose to be a tune up for boytsov & leapai pulled the upset but because leapai picked up those 2 vacant WBO regional titles he was ranked #9 so they made the fight an eliminator. #9 because he beat a 13-5-1 guy...
pianeta beat some wash up fighters of the past botha & McCall. he beat journeymen zack page & Robert Hawkins. he beat matt skelton & had a draw with albert sosnowski. he also beat 2 undefeated fighters johan duhaupas 17-0 & mike marrone 18-0. those 2 are not great but they were at the same point in their careers & stepping up.
wach had wins over journeymen tye fields, Jason gavern, kevin mcbride & he beat Christian hammer.
pianeta & wach were undefeated even though their level of competition wasn't great but they never lost to guys with a 2-2 record & trialhorse journeymen... leapai did. leapai showed the importance of winning regional belts. charr is doing the same thing to gather rankings now.Comment

if povetkin and haye werent mixed in there id also be very hard on wlad but its not entirely his fault. these type of guys should not be given high rankingsComment

Plenty champions have let go of belts in the past.
in two years Wlad has faced Tony Thompson, Mormeck, Pianta, Wach and Leapai.
Which of those would you consider a top contender? Which of those fights excited you?
He fought Povetkin - probs for that. But he had to make it the worst fight in heavyweight championship history or at least going back to Hugry Akinwande vs Lewis.
Who's missing you ask? How about an Arreola, Stiverne, Fury, Chisora, Pulev? Hell, even Wilder, Ruiz, Glazkov, Jennings etc would be worth our while.
Fighters ranked below the top 20 has no business in the ring with the champ. Not once, and certainly not time after time.Last edited by LacedUp; 05-01-2014, 01:54 PM.Comment
