Ward will try to argue that time should not be added on since he has been "asking" for a fight while suing him. This is a very weird dynamic.
Also whats with the 7 year contract labor law that Ward is referring to, didnt he sign an extension in 2011 thru 2014Comment

Yea, Oscar was able to get out because his contract was evidently for longer than 7 years w/o an extension.
I guess that means a fighter has to change promoters if he's been with the same one for 7 years in CaliComment

I am just curious but what fight does Ward want at 168 that would pay him what he wants that is even reasonable. At 175 he had some decent options but those pickings are looking rather slim also but still better than 168 and I don't think anyone at 160 is looking to come see Ward (not that there is that much talent at 160 either).Comment

Let me play devil's advocate. This is a lawsuit that Goosen will probably win. Why would he be against getting him a fight? I get thay andre ward looks ****** for begging for a fight while suing him, but whats the downside for Goosen if he gets him a fight during the mean time? Goosen will get paid too. Is he afraid he'll waste too much capital on ward if he [Goosen] loses? He could just tv package him then. Collect the HBO paycheck and do as little promoting as possible.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 04-30-2014, 11:26 PM.Comment

Meh, the only option he has at 175 is Kovalev. He had the chance with Stevenson.... still don't know why he didn't act on it.I am just curious but what fight does Ward want at 168 that would pay him what he wants that is even reasonable. 168 though... unless he rematches people he already beat, don't knowComment

Yea i think thats it. Also if he does promote him, they wont add on to the contract the portion of the time that Ward is suing him. For example i think Wards contract was suppose to expire sometime next year 2015 but the time that was taken away by the law suit was added onto the contract so now it expires NOv 2016.Let me play devil's advocate. Honestly i dont think i've ever heard of a promoter setting up a fight while being sued by the fighter. Its kind of funny how ward is telling him to respect the contract while basically breaching itComment
